Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have received your request and we join you in praying for him before the mercy of God.
It is good that you have asked others to pray, for we all need the prayers of one another. Even those who are strong need to be upheld, and those who are weak are strengthened when the Church prays with one voice. Prayer is a great weapon and a sure defense for each day, and when we offer it with faith God hears and acts according to His wisdom and love.
Let us pray with thanksgiving, for every prayer should be accompanied by thanksgiving, and let us pray not only for his comfort but for his true good in Christ.
We pray that God would draw him to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, that He would grant him repentance where repentance is needed, faith where faith is weak, and grace to walk in obedience. We ask the Lord to guard his heart and mind, to keep him from shipwreck in the trials of daily life, and to make him alert and watchful in his own walk, for prayer and a faithful life must go together. If he is in any way walking contrary to God's design for holiness, for purity, and for marriage as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman where alone intimate union belongs, we pray that God would convict, cleanse, and restore him, and lead him into the fullness of life according to His word. If he is weary, tempted, or shaken, we pray as Christ prayed that his faith would not fail, and that the Lord would build him firmly upon the confession of Christ.
We also pray for you who have brought this burden, that God would keep you steadfast, give you wisdom to love him well, to speak the truth in love, and to continue in prayer morning and evening, trusting not in our words but in God's grace which alone saves and sustains.
May the Lord in His mercy hear these prayers, do what is best for his soul, and receive all thanksgiving and glory. Amen.
