We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious soul who is entangled in the destructive grip of recreational drugs. Father God, we know that Your Word declares in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Lord, we pray that this truth would penetrate deep into his heart—that his body belongs to You, not to the fleeting pleasures of this world.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that this stronghold of drug use is broken by the power of the cross. We stand on Your promise in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Lord, strengthen him to resist temptation and turn away from this path that leads only to destruction.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment in his relationships. Proverbs 13:20 warns, "He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." Father, we ask that You would sever any ungodly ties that draw him back into this lifestyle. Surround him with believers who will encourage him in righteousness, speak life into him, and hold him accountable. Give him the courage to walk away from friendships that do not honor You, even when it is difficult.
Lord, we know that true transformation comes only through a relationship with Jesus Christ. If he has not yet surrendered his life to You, we pray that he would come to know You as his Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that he would turn to You, repent of his sins, and find new life in Christ.
We also ask that You would heal any wounds or emptiness in his heart that may have led him to seek comfort in substances. Fill him with Your peace, joy, and purpose. Remind him daily of Your love and the future You have for him—a future free from bondage, filled with hope and eternal life.
Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness. We trust that You are working in his life, even now. Give him the strength to take each step toward freedom, and let him experience the fullness of life that can only be found in You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
