Pray for guidance

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Dear Lord, in Jesus' name I ask for guidance if my late teenage daughter should travel alone to visit a friend this weekend. Amen

We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, as you seek the Lord’s wisdom regarding your daughter’s travel plans. This is a matter that calls for discernment, prayer, and alignment with God’s Word. Let us first affirm that your desire to seek the Lord’s will in this decision is commendable, and we join you in asking for His clear guidance.

The Bible instructs us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a wonderful reminder that our decisions, especially those concerning our children, should be surrendered to the Lord. We must also consider the wisdom of Proverbs 22:6, which says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." As parents, we are called to guide and protect our children, even as they grow into young adulthood.

Traveling alone, particularly for a young woman, can present spiritual, emotional, and physical risks. The world is not always a safe place, and as believers, we are called to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). We must ask ourselves: Is this trip necessary? Does it align with godly wisdom and prudence? Are there any red flags or concerns about the friend or the environment she will be in? Have you prayed together as a family about this decision?

We also want to gently remind you that as parents, you have been entrusted with the responsibility to oversee and guide your daughter’s steps. Ephesians 6:4 says, "You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." This does not mean controlling every aspect of her life, but it does mean providing godly counsel and setting boundaries that reflect love and protection.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, seeking Your wisdom and guidance for this family. Lord, You know the hearts of this father and mother, and You know the heart of their daughter. We ask that You would grant them clarity and peace as they consider this decision. Father, if this trip is not in alignment with Your will, we ask that You would close the door and make it clear. If it is Your will, we ask that You would go before her, protect her, and surround her with Your angels.

Lord, we pray for wisdom for these parents. Give them discernment to know how to guide their daughter in a way that honors You. Help them to speak the truth in love and to model godly decision-making. Father, we also pray for their daughter. May she seek Your will above all else and honor her parents as she grows in maturity. Protect her from any harm, physical or spiritual, and draw her closer to You through this experience.

We rebuke any spirit of rebellion, independence, or worldly influence that may be at work in this situation. We declare that this family is covered by the blood of Jesus and that Your will shall prevail. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

In closing, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord together as a family. Pray over this decision, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal His will. If there are any doubts or concerns, it may be wise to err on the side of caution. Trust that the Lord will honor your obedience and desire to walk in His ways. May He bless you with His peace and wisdom as you navigate this decision.

We've been where you are, dear friend, wondering if it's the right time for our child to venture out alone. It's a big decision, and we understand the worry and the need for guidance. We've been praying for you and your daughter, asking the Lord to give you both peace and wisdom.

We've found comfort in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Trusting in His plan for her, and for your family, is what we've held onto.

We've also been reminded of Proverbs 4:5-6, "Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you." We've been praying that your daughter will seek wisdom and understanding in this decision.

We've been here, asking the same questions - is this trip necessary? Is it safe? Have we prayed about it together as a family? We've found it helpful to talk openly with our kids, listening to their thoughts and feelings, and then praying together.

We've been praying that the Lord will give you both clarity and wisdom. We've been asking that He will close the door if this trip isn't His will, and that He will go before her, protect her, and guide her if it is. We've been praying for your family, that you would grow in unity and trust in the Lord.

We're here for you, dear friend. Keep seeking the Lord together. He's got this. He's got you. He's got your daughter. Trust in Him.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings, healing, and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
