We hear your heavy burden and we stand with you in prayer together in Jesus' name for your marriage and your home. What you are describing is deeply painful and we grieve with you over the jealousy, sabotage, and sin that has entered your household.

First we want to speak to your concern about generation curses. We understand why you feel this way when evil seems to repeat and intensify in a family. Scripture tells us that the soul who sins, he shall die, the son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son Ezekiel 18:20. And for those who are in Christ, the curse has been broken, for Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us Galatians 3:13. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. We do not need to live in fear of a generational curse having power over us, but we do need to recognize that patterns of sin like jealousy, stealing, and sexual immorality can be learned and passed down when not repented of, and they must be confronted with truth and prayer.

What your in laws are doing is sin and we must call it what God calls it. Jealousy and the desire to sabotage and take revenge is evil, for where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed James 3:16, and a tranquil heart is life to the flesh but envy is the rottenness of the bones Proverbs 14:30. To deliberately display herself in a sexually provocative way to get your husband's attention and to encourage her own daughter to seduce your husband is an attempt to draw him into adultery. God is very clear, You shall not commit adultery Exodus 20:14 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. We rebuke this seduction and manipulation in Jesus' name and we pray your husband will guard his heart and his eyes and flee from sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. We also must address stealing, for you mentioned a habit of stealing. Scripture says You shall not steal Exodus 20:15 and Let him who stole steal no more but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good Ephesians 4:28. It is not loving or right for your husband to cover this sin or to direct his anger toward you for speaking truth. Anger that defends sin does not work the righteousness of God. We encourage your husband to love you sacrificially and to protect your marriage covenant above even his extended family.

We encourage you not to repay evil for evil but to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21 and love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. This does not mean you allow sin to continue unchecked in your home. Love must be wise and set godly boundaries. It is right and biblical to separate yourselves from ongoing temptation and theft and to require honesty and purity in your household. Seek godly counsel from a trusted pastor or mature Christian couple who can walk with you both and hold your husband accountable to honor his vows to you alone.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Jesus, that He died for your sins and rose again, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name and His power alone that curses are broken and marriages are protected.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear sister and her marriage to You. Lord we ask You to place a hedge of protection around her and her husband and their covenant. Convict the hearts of these in laws of jealousy, revenge, stealing and sexual seduction and bring them to repentance. Open the eyes of this husband to see the danger and to turn away from covering sin and from anger toward his wife, and give him courage to stand for righteousness and to cleave to his wife alone as You commanded. Heal this wife's heart from hurt and fear, give her wisdom to set healthy boundaries, give her peace that passes understanding, and let no weapon formed against her marriage prosper. Break every pattern of sin in that family by the blood of Jesus and let Your holiness reign in that home. We ask that Your will be done and that this marriage would be strengthened to reflect Your love for the church. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We have read your request and we can hear how painful and unsettling this past year has been for you. To feel your marriage being targeted inside your own family, and to carry worry about jealousy, seduction and stealing in your home, is exhausting and lonely. We are praying for you and your husband together.

One thing that has helped many couples under this kind of close family pressure is learning to think in terms of boundaries, like a property line that shows what you are responsible to guard. That includes your time, your home, your belongings and the trust between you and your husband. When that line is unclear, others can step over it without you meaning to allow it. Becoming clearer together about what is yes and what is no, and speaking that truth in love, can bring a little more peace and safety, even when others do not respect it at first.

It may help to choose a calm moment to talk with your husband not about his family's motives but about what you both want to protect in your marriage and home, and to invite one wise, trusted person such as a pastor or older couple you both respect to listen and help you decide next steps together. If things have been taken, it is also wise to quietly keep your valuables and important papers secured and note what has happened, rather than confronting alone in anger.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this wife and her husband to You. Cover their marriage with Your peace, give them unity and wisdom for each decision, guard their home and dignity, and lead them to safe, godly counsel. Bring healing where there has been hurt and help them walk in Your way day by day. Amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and before His people, and we have heard it with sorrow. There is a jealousy of which the Scripture says that it is cruel as the grave, and wrath is cruel and anger is outrageous, but who is able to stand before jealousy. When it enters a household it does not rest, but devises one scheme after another, and the home which should be a place of peace becomes a place of torment. We grieve with you that you should suffer such unholy assaults within your own family.

Know this, that the Lord is a jealous God and He guardeth, like an armed man, the marriage covenant. That covenant is not of the invention of man, but of God, and it is a lifelong union of one man and one woman, cemented by mutual love and fidelity, wherein the two become one flesh. What you describe, the immodest display to allure your husband and the encouragement of a daughter to seduce him, is not love but lust, not affection but adultery, and in such a near relation it is the more grievous in the sight of God. The Lord has said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, and Thou shalt not covet, and His law is not set aside by the Gospel but is established by it. Sex and all that belongs to it is holy only within that covenant of marriage. Outside of it, it is sin and brings judgment, and we cannot ask God to bless what He has forbidden. Rather we must ask Him to convict, to bring to repentance, and to turn hearts from darkness to light.

You speak of generation curses. Hear the better word of the Gospel. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us. The believer is not held in bondage by a fate handed down from his fathers, but if sin has run in a family, it is because the heart of man is by nature inclined to the same sins, until God writes His law in the inward parts and gives a new heart. No charm or curse need be feared where Christ is trusted, for He is our protection. Yet you will always need divine keeping, and that keeping is promised to those who walk in appointed ways. As for the truths of God which He has taught you by His own Spirit, grapple them to you as with hooks of steel, and keep closely to the footprints of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is in the way of truth, in the way of childlike trust in providential guidance, and in the way of holiness, that angelic protection is afforded. If you go in the way of error you cannot expect that protection, but if you keep in the way of the Lord, He shall give His angels charge over you.

Therefore we exhort you to choose the way of truth and to pray that the Lord would write His law more deeply upon every heart in that house. That strong resolve will bring a conflict, for another law in our members wars against it, but the Lord alone can write His law within and make us to delight in it and to hate every false way. Do not render evil for evil, nor seek revenge, for persecution and revenge violate the law of love to which we owe supreme allegiance. Put on modesty, sobriety and prayer, keep needful boundaries, seek the counsel and covering of godly pastors and elders in your church, and let no stealing or impurity be covered or excused. What is done in secret must be brought into the light, not with railing but with firm and holy truthfulness.

Let us pray with you.

O Lord our God, who art a jealous God over Thy people and over the covenant Thou hast ordained, look in mercy upon this daughter of sorrow and upon her household. We come to Thee through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, and we plead His blood which alone can cleanse from sin and break the power of sin. Write Thy law, we beseech Thee, upon every heart in this family. Convict of jealousy, of impurity, of theft and of deceit, and grant repentance that leads to life. Guard this marriage, we pray Thee, as with a flaming sword. Keep this husband from temptation, make him faithful to his vows, courageous to do what is right and to refuse to cover sin, and turn his anger into godly sorrow and firm love for his wife. Protect this wife from sabotage and from the cruelty of jealousy, give her wisdom to walk in appointed ways, to speak the truth in love, and to find refuge under the shadow of Thy wings. Let those who now plot evil be ashamed of their deeds and be turned to seek Christ and His holiness. Let this home be cleansed and be made a dwelling place of righteousness, loving kindness and mercies. We ask not for the prospering of sin, but for the triumph of grace, that all may know that Thou art married unto Thy people and wilt betroth them unto Thyself in faithfulness. Hear us for Jesus sake. Amen.
