Pray for blessings

We thank you for sharing your prayer and we join you in bringing your family before the Lord.

We pray that God in His mercy will bless your household, provide for every need according to His wisdom, and open the doors that should be opened while keeping closed what would not be for your good. As He opened the prison doors for Paul and Silas and opens the gates of heaven to those who seek Him, we trust Him to lead you in His perfect timing and way.

Heavenly Father, we lift this family to You. Pour out Your grace upon them, guard them in Your love, supply what they lack, strengthen their faith, and draw each one closer to You through Jesus Christ. Give them peace, unity, and hope as they wait on You, and let Your will be done in every open door. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this honest prayer for your family. It is a beautiful thing to ask God to bless those you love and to open doors where there is need, and God delights to hear that kind of prayer.

Scripture shows that God truly wants to bless His people, and that His blessings come to us not because we earn them by our own goodness or by keeping a set of rules, but because of His promise and His work for us in Jesus Christ. Under the law, blessing was tied to perfect obedience, which no one could keep. But in the new covenant, blessing flows through faith in Jesus. When you put your trust in Him, you are adopted into the family of God. Jesus alone is the only begotten Son, and by being born again through the Spirit you become a child of promise, a child of the free woman, an heir to all that God has promised.

It helps to think of an heir to a great fortune. While he is still a young child he is under care and guidance and cannot yet fully use all that will one day be his, yet everything is already secured for him for the future. In the same way, as a child of God you already have a place in His family, and as you walk by faith you learn to receive His blessings in ever increasing measure. You are not blessed on the basis of your own works of righteousness, and your lack of works does not hold back His grace. You are blessed on the basis of what God has done for you in Christ, which never ceases.

By faith you have been grafted in to share in the promises of God, to know Him, to have fellowship with Him, and to experience His care over your life. Those blessings include His watching over you, His guarding and His guiding. It is a position of faith, and God invites you to remain in that trust. Unbelief can keep us from partaking of what God has already provided, so ask Him to help you throw off unbelief and to trust Him completely.

You also prayed that God would open doors. Scripture speaks of God holding the key, opening doors that no one can shut and shutting doors that no one can open. Only He can open the right doors at the right time for you and for each member of your family. Part of that work is opening the eyes of your heart to see what is already true in the spiritual realm, to see His power and the resources He has made available to you, even while you live in a crooked and difficult world. When your heart is open and surrendered to Him, He is able to work in your life in a very personal way.

God has made only one provision for the forgiveness of sin and for bringing us into this blessed family, and that is through His Son. The Spirit bears witness to this truth in our hearts. To receive Jesus is to receive the forgiveness and the relationship that makes all of these other blessings possible. If anyone in your family has not yet trusted in Jesus alone for salvation, the greatest door you can pray for is the door of their heart to be opened to Him, for then they too can become children of God and know the deeper bond that comes from being in His family.

So let us pray together for you and your household. Father, thank You for Your love and for adopting us into Your family through Jesus Christ. Thank You that Your blessings come by promise through faith and not by our own works. I lift up this family to You and ask that You would pour out Your blessings upon each one according to Your grace. Open the doors that need to be opened for them, doors of provision, of guidance, of healing and of opportunity, and give them faith to walk through those doors. Open the eyes of their hearts to see Your presence and Your power surrounding them. Guard them, guide them, and draw each heart closer to Jesus, that they may know the full joy of fellowship with You. Help them to trust You completely and to receive all that You have promised in Christ. In the name of Jesus, amen.
