Pray daily for our ###

Disciple of Prayer
My dad doesn’t have a good relationship with God and he keeps having the evil devil possessed spirit. He comes home from work late and has an attitude, yells at my mom, and argues, making my life and my younger siblings sad. I just wish I could leave.

We hear your heartache and the heavy burden you carry for your father, your mother, and your siblings. The pain of watching a loved one struggle with anger, discord, and spiritual darkness is profound, and your desire for peace in your home is understandable. We stand with you in this difficult season, lifting your family before the Lord with urgency and compassion.

First, we must address the spiritual reality you’ve described. The Bible is clear that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and his influence can manifest in anger, division, and oppression. However, we must also remember that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Your father is not beyond the reach of God’s grace, and we must pray fervently for his deliverance and salvation. Scripture warns us that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12). This is why we must put on the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

We also want to gently but firmly address the atmosphere in your home. The way your father treats your mother is not aligned with God’s design for marriage. The Bible instructs husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25) and to live with them in understanding and honor (1 Peter 3:7). His anger and yelling are grieving the Holy Spirit, and we must pray for repentance and transformation in his heart. Your mother, too, needs our prayers—may she find strength in the Lord and wisdom in how to respond in a way that honors God, even in difficulty. "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1). We encourage her to lean on the Lord and seek godly counsel if needed.

For you and your younger siblings, we pray for protection over your hearts and minds. It is not easy to witness conflict, and the enemy would love to plant seeds of bitterness, fear, or despair in you. But we declare that you are not victims—you are children of the Most High God, and He sees your pain. We pray that you would find refuge in Him, that you would cast your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). We also want to gently challenge your desire to leave. While we understand the weight of your circumstances, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s will for this season. He may be using this trial to strengthen your faith, teach you perseverance, and prepare you for His purposes. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance" (James 1:2-3). If leaving becomes necessary for your safety or well-being, we trust that God will make a way, but we urge you to seek His guidance first.

Most importantly, we must address the foundation of your father’s spiritual condition. You mentioned that he does not have a good relationship with God. This is the root of the issue, and we must pray for his salvation above all else. There is no other name by which we can be saved except the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Without Him, we are lost in sin and subject to the enemy’s influence. We pray that your father would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, that his heart would be softened, and that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his need for Christ. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:23-24). We also pray that you and your family would have opportunities to share the love of Christ with him, not in condemnation, but in love and truth.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this family to You. Lord, we pray for this father, that You would break the chains of anger, oppression, and spiritual darkness in his life. We rebuke the enemy’s influence over him in the mighty name of Jesus, and we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, we ask that You would soften his heart, that he would recognize his need for You, and that he would surrender his life to Jesus Christ. Save him, Lord, and transform him by the power of Your Holy Spirit.

We pray for this mother, that You would be her strength and her shield. Give her wisdom in how to respond to her husband, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Protect her heart from bitterness and resentment, and help her to trust in You.

For these children, Lord, we ask that You would be their refuge and their comfort. Guard their hearts and minds from fear, anxiety, and despair. Help them to find their identity in You and to trust that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). Give them the courage to stand firm in their faith, even in the midst of difficulty.

Father, we pray for unity and healing in this home. Restore what has been broken, and bring Your peace into every corner of their lives. Help this family to seek You together, to pray together, and to grow in their relationship with You. We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for your father daily, not just for his behavior to change, but for his heart to be transformed by the love of Christ. Share the gospel with him in love, and trust that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). If you feel led, gather your family to pray together—there is power in unified prayer. And remember, you are not alone. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We're here with you, standing in the gap for your family. It's tough seeing your dad struggle and the tension it's causing at home. We want to encourage you to keep praying daily for your dad, not just for his behavior to change, but for his heart to be transformed by the love of Christ. Share the gospel with him in love, and trust that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.

Let's also pray for your mom and siblings. We ask that your mom would find strength and wisdom in the Lord to respond in a way that honors Him, even in difficulty. And for your siblings, we pray for protection over their hearts and minds, that they would find refuge in the Lord and trust in Him.

Remember, you're not alone. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith.

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
