Pray against controlling spirits

You cry out against controlling spirits, yet consider whether the true tyranny lies not in some external force but in the passions you have harbored within. A man enslaved to his own lusts, to anger, to covetousness, is in no respect different from a demoniac; he brings upon himself a self-chosen madness. The mouth, the eyes, the very senses become as sewers. Do not be quick to name a spiritual oppressor where there may first be a heart that has refused to bow to the Father of spirits.

If any sin opened a door, pray God to reveal it, and when He does, cut it off without pity. But know this: deliverance from evil and the supply of every good are the very effects of Christ’s Incarnation. He came to redeem us from the curse of the Law and to promote us to sonship. You have received the Spirit of adoption, if indeed you are in Christ. That Spirit is not a spirit of fear and compulsion, but of power, love, and a sound mind. The accusations and demands you hear, that you must do certain things to regain what is lost, these are not the voice of your Father. He does not bargain with His children. What He permits to be taken, He allows for your profit, that you might learn to despise what can be taken and cling to what cannot be shaken.

God often grants something far greater than the mere return of earthly goods: He grants the soul’s deliverance from the love of them. He does not always promise deliverance from the trial, but He does promise the power to triumph within it. When He seems to delay, He is teaching you to set your mind on things above, to trust in the resurrection, and to say with the Apostle, “Whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.” The present distortion, the sense of loss, the manipulation, these are the chastisement of a loving Father, who disciplines us for our profit that we may share His holiness. The fathers of our flesh disciplined us as seemed best to them, but He always works for our good.

Stand firm, then, not by shouting against unseen foes in the air, but by submitting to God, resisting the devil in the quietness of faith, and putting on Christ. Let His peace rule in your heart. As you do, the controlling powers will find nothing in you to grip. You will have not only restoration, but the far greater gift of an unshakeable soul, freed from the need for such things.

What you are describing is real spiritual conflict, and your cry for deliverance is heard by the Lord. Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil, and His name remains mighty to pull down every stronghold. When you call on Him, He does not turn away.

The voice that compels you to do what you do not want, the relentless pressure, the sense that things are being held hostage until you comply, that is not the voice of the Good Shepherd. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He does not manipulate or coerce. The enemy is a thief, but Christ gives life. So the first thing to anchor yourself in is this: in Jesus, you already have the authority to resist. He has given His people power over unclean spirits. You are not a helpless victim of their demands. When you stand on the finished work of the cross, you can command them to leave, and heaven will back that command. I am praying that every controlling spirit will be driven from your life completely.

Sometimes these bondages are connected to a door that was opened. It may have been a willful sin, an involvement with something the Lord forbids, or simply dabbling in an area the enemy exploits. God is faithful; if you ask Him to bring it to the light, He will. Do not be afraid of that exposure. Confession and renunciation break the enemy’s legal ground. As you turn from whatever gave place to these spirits, their grip will loosen. I am asking the Lord to make that clear to you and to give you the courage to cut it off entirely. Restoration follows repentance.

I also want you to understand that the freedom Jesus gives is not just a release from torment; it is a life where you are no longer under the power of anything. Many in the world pursue things thinking they are achieving freedom, only to find themselves bound. But a believer can say, “All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” That is the freedom not to have to do something, not to be driven by a compulsion. That is the freedom to be led by the Spirit, not by a domineering spirit. I pray you taste that liberty deeply, and that you guard it carefully, because once you are free, the enemy will try to lure you back into chains. Do not exercise your liberty in a way that entangles you again. The joy of the Lord is your strength, not any fleeting satisfaction the world offers.

I am praying that everything stolen from you through this manipulation will be restored. The years the locusts have eaten can be redeemed. The distortions in your thoughts, your peace, your relationships, I ask the Father to straighten them out by His truth. He is the God of restoration. And remember, your ultimate identity is not that of a person fighting demons, but of a son or daughter whose name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. The victory is already won. Stand in it.

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us by sharing your deeply personal struggle and allowing us to stand with you in prayer. It has been our privilege to lift your request before the Lord, asking Him to break every chain of control and manipulation that the enemy has tried to impose over your life. We have prayed fervently, in the mighty name of Jesus, for these spirits to lose their grip completely and for the Lord to expose any area of sin that may have given them a foothold, so that you can walk in full freedom and repentance.

We have asked God to restore everything that has been taken from you—whether tangible or intangible—and to heal every distortion caused by this spiritual oppression. We continue to stand on His promises, declaring that no weapon formed against you shall prosper and that the Lord will give you the strength to resist every coercion or false agreement the enemy tries to force upon you. You are not alone in this battle, and we believe that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in you to bring complete deliverance.

If you have seen any breakthrough or answered prayer since you first posted, we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report so that we may rejoice with you. If, however, the struggle persists, please do not hesitate to post this request again so that we may continue to intercede on your behalf with renewed fervor. The enemy may try to wear you down, but we serve a God who is greater, and His victory is already assured.

May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses all understanding as you press into Him. May He fill you with His Holy Spirit, guide you into all truth, and surround you with His angels to guard and protect you. Keep standing firm in faith, knowing that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. We pray all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
