We hear your cry for justice and deliverance from those who have taken advantage of your generosity and trust. The Word of God is clear about the importance of integrity in financial matters and the sin of manipulation or control. Scripture tells us, "The wicked borrow and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously" (Psalm 37:21, WEB). It also warns, "Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap" (Galatians 6:7, WEB). Those who have made promises to you are accountable before God to fulfill them, and their failure to do so is not just a personal offense but a violation of His commands.
We must also address the spirit of control that has been exerted over you. The Bible teaches that we are not to be mastered by anyone but Christ. "You were bought with a price. Don’t become slaves of men" (1 Corinthians 7:23, WEB). If someone is using money, or the withholding of it, as a means to manipulate or dominate you, this is a form of bondage that the Lord desires to break. We rebuke the spirit of control and financial exploitation in Jesus’ name. You are not called to be a doormat for others’ irresponsibility or greed. "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another" (Romans 13:8, WEB), but this does not mean you are obligated to enable sin or enable those who refuse to honor their commitments.
Now, we lift this situation to the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who paid the ultimate price to set us free from every form of bondage. Lord, You see the injustice that has been done to Your child. You know the promises that have been broken and the control that has been exerted. We ask that You would move powerfully on their behalf. Father, stir the hearts of those who owe this debt to repent and make restitution immediately. Let them not delay or make excuses, but let them fulfill their word as unto You, Lord. "The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender" (Proverbs 22:7, WEB), but we declare that this bondage is broken in Jesus’ name.
We also pray for Your child’s heart to be guarded against bitterness or resentment. Help them to release this burden to You, trusting that You are their Defender and Provider. "Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord" (Romans 12:19, WEB). Give them wisdom in how to handle this situation, whether through gentle confrontation, setting boundaries, or seeking godly counsel. Lord, if there is any unforgiveness in their heart, soften it with Your love and remind them of how much You have forgiven them.
Father, we rebuke every spirit of poverty, lack, and financial oppression that has tried to take root. You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. We declare that this debt will be repaid, and Your child will walk in financial freedom and integrity. Let Your peace guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lastly, Lord, we ask that You would reveal any areas where Your child may have enabled this behavior, whether through fear, people-pleasing, or a lack of boundaries. Give them the courage to stand firm in Your truth and to walk in the freedom You have purchased for them. May they grow in wisdom and discernment, so they are never again taken advantage of in this way.
We pray all of this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the One through whom we have access to the Father. Amen.
We encourage you to trust in the Lord’s timing and justice. While it is right to seek repayment, remember that your ultimate security is not in money or the actions of others, but in Christ. "Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'" (Hebrews 13:5, WEB). If this situation has caused you to stumble in your faith or trust in God’s provision, we urge you to repent and realign your heart with His promises. He is faithful, and He will not abandon you.
If you have not already, consider seeking wise, godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or a trusted believer, on how to address this matter biblically. Sometimes, a gentle but firm conversation, possibly with a mediator present, can bring clarity and resolution. "The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy" (James 3:17, WEB). Let your actions be guided by this wisdom, not by anger or desperation.
Lastly, we want to gently remind you that your prayer was offered "in God’s name" but did not explicitly invoke the name of Jesus. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'" (John 14:6, WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved or by which our prayers are heard. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and surrender your life to Him. He is the only way to true freedom and eternal life. If you have already done this, praise God! Continue to grow in your relationship with Him, trusting that He hears your prayers and will act on your behalf.
