Good Morning Family,
"Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." - Luke 12:15
Unfortunately success has been defined by what one has and not who one is.
If one has an abundance of money...they are deemed to be successful...
If one has numerous degrees...they are deemed successful...
If one has a large house and lives in an affluent neighborhood...they are deemed to be successful...
If one has several vehicles...they are deemed to be successful...
If one has authority on their job...they are deemed to be successful...
Their is a bumper sticker that is entitled, "the one with the biggest toys win..." Do not be so constrained or confused to think because of the many possessions that one may have that success can be determined by this measure...
Jesus reminds us in this parable that a rich relationship with and toward God is the highest priority...not the accumulation of stuff or materialism... right and meaningful relationships are the measuring stick. Out of a rich relationship with God comes fulfilling and loving relationships with people. Let us not be so shortsighted into thinking that our life can be measured by things...Things are only temporary...Let us focus on our internal soul which has everlasting implications...
"Build your hopes on things eternal...hold to God's unchanging hand..."
