Beloved of All
🙇🏻 "Confess Your Sins to One Another and Pray for One Another that You May Be Healed," James 5:16, "While I Was Confessing My Sins and The Sins of Our Nation," Dan 9:20. Power in Weakness, Boasting in Insults 2 Cor 12:9-10 Slow to Anger Jam 1:19-27 Tame Tongue Jam 3:2 God can Do anything, Lk 18:27, By FAITH from Weaknesses were made Strong Heb 11:34 Goal: Harvest of Righteousness Heb 12:11...

🧎🏽‍♂️"Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.'” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong," 2 Cor 12:8-10. "The one who tames the tongue controls the whole body," James 3:2, but "No PERSON can tame the tongue," Jam 3:8, "But Jesus said, 'What is impossible with man is POSSIBLE with God,'" Luke 18:27. "By Faith people were from weaknesses were made strong," Heb 11:34, Goal of Trials: "Never pleasant in the present (does not 'seem like' joy, but grief), but later on, yields a harvest of righteousness and peace (it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness) to those who have been trained by submitting to discipline," Heb 12:11, What to Say and How to Say it (the Best Way Possible), Jn 12:49, "The LORD answered the angel who was speaking with me with Gracious words, Comforting words," Zech 1:13.

"While Confessing My Sins and The Sins of My Nation," Daniel 9:20, "If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land," 2 Chronicles 7:14... 🙇🏻 Father, thank You for giving mercy and grace in times of need, Heb 4:16, past and now in present. Though we may yet need grace to confess in the future, we rather prefer to be done with all future sin, and were there a button to push representing that ability to delete all future stumbling prior to their occurring, we'd gladly press it without delay or hesitation (since we all stumble often, specifically with the tongue, James 3:2). Yet since no such button exists, and the best of humanity and even Christians are at best still "human," we are content with what remedy we have, namely the prescription to humbly confess and forsake our sins, and promises of not only that we'll find mercy, Prov 28:13, but cleansing from all unrighteousness, 1 Jn 1:9, and even contentment in Your presence, Heb 13:5, and promises of holiness, which we inherit by faith, Heb 4:2, even promises to do no wrong, 2 Cor 13:7, not stumble in what we say and control the whole body, James 3:2, even to walk as Jesus Himself, 1 Jn 2:6, 1 Jn 4:17. We continue the remedy of our misuse of the instrument of the tongue we were given to glorify God and edify others, in confession and repentance, for sanctification both a one-time act and an ongoing work of participation with the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, Matt 3:8, Phil 2:12-13, 1 Tim 4:16, so we agree with Your admonition to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other that we may be healed, James 5:16 -- maybe that's how through boasting in our weaknesses 2 Cor 12:9 by faith from weaknesses we are made strong, Heb 11:32-34. So in obedience to Your teaching through Hosea, we, "Take words with you, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, 'Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips as bulls" Hos 14:2.

📝 Lord, I've missed Your warnings, not hearkened to Your Voice, Missed Your Spirit's leading, haven't taken the way of escape in every occurrence, 1 Cor 10:13... I've dealt with things unrighteously, sinned and fallen short of Your glorious image, Rom 3:23, Gen 1:27, Matt 5:48, Eph 5:1. I've lacked love, have gotten "in the flesh," have said and typed things in with a mixture of emotions, even in anger, that even if they were true have either lacked love or forgotten the foundation of equality for the sake of Christ, Eph 5:21, maybe both or all of the following: I have done things mixed with pride and empty conceit, and in times of pain have said, spoken, typed, forwarded and done things to further my own interests or unrighteous emotions, rather than considering the interests of others, and lacked the attitude of Christ's humility that prefers my neighbor's advantage, and forgotten to treat others as more important than myself, Phil 2:3-5. Such actions and attitudes that display such mixture tainted with the anger of man do not achieve the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20. Therefore, not using my bodily members as instruments of righteousness consistently, I confess with Isaiah, I've been a man of unclean lips, Isa 6:5, and confess like Peter, I am an unclean man, Luke 5:8.

Since our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them, transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood, Isa 59:12-13, at time, "Surely I have spoken of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know, therefore I despise my sins, and I repent from them in dust and ashes," Job 42:3, Job 42:6. Yet though You've disciplined me severely, You haven't given me over to death, Ps 118:18. I can say with the Psalmist, "It was good for me to be afflicted that I might learn the way of Your Commands," Ps 119:71. Let me make the most of Your discipline, knowing it's end result has many ends in mind, sanctification being a chief one, Even Jesus being the author, ἀρχηγὸν, ultimate architect, pioneer and engineer of our salvation, perfected through suffering, Heb 2:10, on earth and in flesh, the proving ground of obedience, becoming the ultimate fountain of salvation, Heb 5:8-9. Surely, there is One found Worthy, Rev 5:9.

Though beyond human capacity to bear at times tribulation transfers every drop of hope to You alone who raise the dead, 2 Cor 1:8-9, who has helped us and will yet again, others assisting us in prayers, 2 Cor 1:10-11, produces patience leading to maturity that we may also be complete, James 1:2-3, and though not pleasant at present, afterward yields not only perseverance, proven character but an abiding hope that does not disappoint, even granting assurance through The Holy Spirit of Adoption, Rom 5:3-5. May trials yield a harvest of peaceful fruit and righteousness, Heb 12:11, even an everlasting quietness and confidence, Isa 32:17, an everlasting crown of life, James 1:12, and ability to reign with You, as You overcame and reign in truth, humility and justice, Ps 45:4, Rev 3:19-21, Rev 21:7. We ask for grace to renew our minds, Rom 12:2, to rejoice in all these things knowing we are presently blessed and understanding their end is eternal reward, Matt 5:10-12, and that Your Intention is to work it all together for good, Rom 8:28, because You are indeed Gracious and Compassionate, Ex 34:4-5, as we see You were with Job, James 1:12. Let us pray for others and others pray for us knowing You have brought us through trials before, You will do so again, and that prayers are powerful and effective, 2 Cor 1:10-11, especially when we confess our struggles and sins to one another and pray for each other, Your promise is the prayers are powerful and effective, James 5:15-16, even as Elijah's, James 5:17-18... Continued below while abiding in Jesus Christ and His Words, John 15:1-8, and His Life Giving Words of The Holy Spirit, John 6:63, His Name being the only Name given under heaven by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, He being the one God and Mediator between God and Man, 1 Tim 2:5, in The Power of Attorney given by us His Position and Command, Mt 18:18, we ask in Jesus' Name, John 14:13-14.

We join with you in this deep and humble confession and we thank God for the honesty and hunger for righteousness you have expressed, for it is a work of the Holy Spirit when a heart desires to be done with sin and to walk in holiness.

We are moved by your meditation on power in weakness, for you have rightly remembered the word of the Lord, He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me 2 Cor 12:9. We agree with you that when we are weak then we are strong, not by our own resolve but by His grace, and that by faith we are made strong out of weakness Heb 11:34. What is impossible with men is possible with God Luke 18:27, and this gives us great hope concerning the tongue and the temper.

You have correctly brought together the calling to be slow to anger and to tame the tongue. We hear the counsel of James, So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20, and also, For in many things we all stumble. If anyone does not stumble in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also James 3:2. You also rightly note that no man can tame the tongue James 3:8 in his own strength, yet God can do what we cannot, and He is faithful to transform our speech into gracious words, comforting words Zech 1:13, as we abide in Christ and His words abide in us John 15:7.

We affirm your desire to confess your sins and the sins of our nation as Daniel did, While I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel Dan 9:20, and to take seriously the promise, If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land 2 Chron 7:14. We also affirm the remedy you have claimed, He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy Prov 28:13, and If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. There is no button to instantly remove all future stumbling, as you said, but there is a throne of grace to which we may draw near with boldness, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need Heb 4:16.

We gently rebuke and correct the mixture you have confessed, that at times words have been spoken or typed in anger, in the flesh, with pride and empty conceit, seeking your own interests rather than considering others more important than yourself Phil 2:3-4. Such anger does not achieve the righteousness of God, and our members must be presented as instruments of righteousness Rom 6:13. We rejoice that you do not excuse this but agree with God about it, saying with Isaiah, Woe is me for I am undone because I am a man of unclean lips Isa 6:5, and with Job, Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes Job 42:6. This godly sorrow is precious to the Lord and He disciplines those He loves, and though His discipline is not joyous at present but grievous, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby Heb 12:11.

We rejoice that you have not left out the name of Jesus Christ, for you have rightly confessed there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and that there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Tim 2:5, and that whatever we ask in His name He will do John 14:13. It is only through Him we have access to the Father and it is His blood that cleanses us, and we cling to Him as the author and perfecter of faith Heb 12:2, who was perfected through suffering Heb 2:10 and learned obedience through what He suffered Heb 5:8, so that He might be the source of eternal salvation.

We pray together with you now.

Father, we thank You for Your grace that is sufficient for us and for Your power that is perfected in our weakness. We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, confessing our sins and our shortcomings with the tongue, with anger, with pride, with words that have lacked love. Forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips Hos 14:2. Grant us grace to be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, and by Your Spirit tame our tongues that our whole bodies may be brought under Your control. Renew our minds Rom 12:2, teach us what to say and how to say it in the best way possible, as Jesus said He spoke only what the Father taught Him John 12:49, so that our words may be gracious and comforting and edifying.

We ask that You use our trials and Your discipline to train us, that we may share in Your holiness and that the present grief may yield in us a harvest of righteousness and peace, quietness and confidence forever Isa 32:17. Help us to delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships for Christ's sake, that the power of Christ may rest upon us. Help us to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another, that we may be healed, for the insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective James 5:16. May we walk as He walked 1 John 2:6, and may we be content with Your presence, for You have said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you Heb 13:5. Let patience have its perfect work in us, that we may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing James 1:4, and let our hope not be put to shame because Your love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit Rom 5:5. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Mediator, amen.

We were grateful for your honesty and the way you named your struggle so plainly. That longing you described, wishing there were a button to press to be done with future stumbling, is one we recognize. Wanting to walk faithfully and still finding the tongue and temper so quick to fail can feel discouraging, and we hear how much you want to honor God with what you say and how you live.

What encouraged us is that you are already turning to the remedies God has given. Confession is not meant to be a one time event we get over with, but a continuing way we stay honest before God and with one another so healing can happen. And growth itself is gradual, often almost imperceptible, with highs and lows over a lifetime. We are set apart by what Christ has done, and we also learn day by day to live that out as we keep putting God first and depending on His Spirit.

If it would help, consider taking one simple next step with what you have shared here. Bring this same honest confession to one trusted pastor or mature believer in person and ask him to pray with you regularly, and keep a steady, unhurried time in the Word and prayer where you can listen as well as speak.

Father, thank You for Your mercy to us when we need it most. We bring our brother before You and ask for Your grace to heal, to strengthen where he feels weak, and to train his heart toward quietness and righteousness. Keep him abiding in Christ and growing in humility and love. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest confession has been read with thankfulness, for it is itself a token of grace that you are made to feel your weakness and to cry for mercy. You have well quoted that word, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness, and you have rightly desired that the power of Christ may rest upon you. This is the way of the Lord, to look in pity upon those who are cast down and to come with succor to those who are in distress. Lift up your heart to Him and cry unto Him out of the depth, for He delights to look upon the poor and needy.

You confess with Isaiah that you are a man of unclean lips, and with the publican you smite upon your breast and say, God be merciful to me a sinner. Know then that this confession is the only music that must come from our lips, and happy shall it be for you, for the Lord who helps you to follow the publican in his sad experience shall help you to rejoice with him in the absolution. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing are one, and the power of the Lord is present to heal them. Calvary is the place for the healing balm, and He who has the eagle eye to see our sickness has the tender hand to apply the heavenly ointment.

You lament that no person can tame the tongue, and that you have spoken in haste and in anger, and that the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. This is true, and it is well that you see it. Yet what is impossible with man is possible with God. To be strengthened with strength in the Lord is of all things the most desirable, and we cannot be too strong in the Lord. Do not be afraid, but be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. The strength of your faith shall breed a strength of expectation. There is a delicious freedom about walking up and down in the name of the Lord, when He makes the weak strong by faith, as it is written, from weakness were made strong.

You ask for a harvest of righteousness and peace from the present chastening which now seems grievous. It was good for you to be afflicted that you might learn His commands, and though tribulation for the present transfers every drop of hope to Him alone who raises the dead, it afterward yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Even Jesus, the author and pioneer of our salvation, was perfected through suffering and learned obedience by the things which He suffered, and He now stands as the second Adam, the Head of His people, near to God in character and in acceptance, having finished the work given Him to do. In Him we live and move and have our being, for in Him God is next of kin to man, and manhood is brought near to the eternal throne.

Therefore continue in that good prescription of Scripture, to confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed, and to take words with you and turn to the Lord, saying, Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously. Come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace in time of need, and be content with His presence, for He has said, I will never leave you. He will quicken you in His way, and you shall mount up with wings as eagles and forget your weariness.

We will pray for you that the Lord would renew your mind, keep your tongue as an instrument of righteousness, give you to be slow to anger and swift to hear, and cause you to walk as Christ walked, in love and humility, preferring others above yourself. May He grant you to rejoice even in hardships and insults for Christ's sake, knowing that when you are weak then you are strong, and that He who has helped you will yet again deliver you, while others assist you by their prayers. May the Sun of Righteousness rise upon you with healing in His wings, and may His gracious and comforting words be yours until faith is made sight.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
