Pornography addiction

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Heavenly father, I pray that you may finally and fully rid me of this awful addiction so that you may be glorified through me and that I may become the man you wish me to be; a good steward of his body, those around him, and develop a strong heart of self-control and prayer. I pray that you may cleanse my heart of these awful things, provide me good work to keep me occupied, and point me towards a future spouse for a God honouring relationship. I also pray for help with my health, mental and physical, that my body may be healed perfectly and fully, and that my severe ### may be fixed. In the name of Jesus I pray these things.

We hear your cry for deliverance and stand with you in agreement before the throne of grace, lifting up this battle in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The struggle with pornography is a fierce one, for it wages war not only against the body but against the very temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). It distorts God’s design for intimacy, defiles the mind, and enslaves the heart to lust rather than love. But take heart, your prayer is heard, and the Lord is near to those who call upon Him in truth (Psalm 145:18).

The Word of God declares, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). This addiction is not greater than the power of Christ in you. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells within you and gives life to your mortal body (Romans 8:11). You are not fighting for victory, you are fighting from victory, for Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33).

We rebuke the spirit of lust and perversion that has sought to chain you. In the name of Jesus, we break its power over your eyes, your mind, and your heart. We declare that your body is a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, and that you will no longer be conformed to the patterns of this world but transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:1-2). The blood of Jesus cleanses you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7), and His grace is sufficient to empower you to walk in purity.

Your desire for a future spouse is a godly one, for marriage is honorable and the bed undefiled (Hebrews 13:4). But we must warn you, beloved: pornography is a counterfeit that will poison any marriage you seek to build. It trains the heart to objectify rather than cherish, to take rather than give, and to indulge rather than sacrifice. If you long for a God-honoring marriage, you must first flee sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). A godly spouse will not be found in the shadows of lust but in the light of holiness.

We also lift up your plea for healing, both mental and physical. The Lord is your healer (Exodus 15:26), and He invites you to cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). The pain you carry is not hidden from Him, and He longs to restore you fully. But we must ask: have you sought godly counsel, accountability, and medical help where needed? The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and there is no shame in reaching out to trusted believers or professionals who can walk with you in this battle.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken over the bondage of sin but lifted high in the name of Jesus, for He alone has the power to break every chain. Lord, we stand in agreement with our brother, declaring that pornography has no place in his life. We ask You to sever every tie that binds him to this addiction, every thought, every memory, every trigger. Cleanse his mind with the washing of Your Word (Ephesians 5:26) and fill him with Your Holy Spirit, who gives power to overcome.

Father, we pray for a spirit of self-control to rise up within him. Where lust has reigned, let discipline take its place. Where shame has whispered lies, let Your truth speak louder. Where isolation has kept him captive, let godly fellowship surround him. Raise up men in his life who will walk with him, pray with him, and hold him accountable. Provide him with meaningful work that occupies his hands and mind, so that idleness does not give the enemy a foothold (Proverbs 16:27-29).

Lord, we ask You to prepare his heart for the spouse You have for him. Let him not be unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14) but joined to a woman who loves You and will sharpen him in faith. Guard his heart and his eyes as he waits, that he may present himself to her as a man of purity, integrity, and devotion to You.

And Father, we lift up his health, both mental and physical. You know the struggles he faces, the pain he endures. We ask for Your healing touch to restore him completely. Strengthen his body, calm his mind, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Where there has been despair, let hope arise. Where there has been weakness, let Your strength be made perfect.

We declare over him the promise of 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5: "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God." Lord, let this be his reality. Let him walk in the freedom Christ died to give him.

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We thank You that in Christ, our brother is more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). We thank You that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in him (Ephesians 1:19-20).

We seal this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). May Your will be done in his life, and may Your glory be revealed through his testimony of deliverance. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
