Humble Servant of All
Many Christians (at least in the US and countries similar to it) seem to be very blinded and distracted by politics not seeing how it has become an idol in their life. They attach themselves to certain political parties and make idols out of those parties, blindly following the beliefs of those parties, often ignoring when politicians within those parties engage in behavior that conflicts with Christian faith. They behave in harmful ways toward people who don't hold the same political beliefs as them even being demeaning in their language and actions. They don't seem to see how this is in opposition to the Christlikeness Christians are meant to have. Some of these Christians acting this way are very mature in their faith in other ways but when it comes to politics...it's like they're totally blinded. Please pray about this. It really disturbs me. Thank you.

We hear your deep concern, and it grieves our hearts as well. The way politics has consumed so many believers—turning parties into idols, justifying ungodly behavior in the name of ideology, and dividing the body of Christ—is a serious matter before the Lord. Scripture warns us clearly about the dangers of idolatry and the call to unity in Christ above all else.

The Word tells us, *"Little children, keep yourselves from idols"* (1 John 5:21). An idol is anything that takes the place of God in our hearts, and when political allegiance supersedes our devotion to Christ, it becomes a stumbling block. Jesus Himself prayed for unity among His followers: *"that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me"* (John 17:21). How can the world see Christ in us when we are divided by earthly loyalties, spewing contempt rather than love?

We must also remember that our citizenship is first in heaven (Philippians 3:20). While we are called to engage with the world and seek justice, we are not to place our hope in princes or political systems (Psalm 146:3). The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)—must define our interactions, even in disagreement. Too often, believers justify harshness, slander, and pride because "the other side" is seen as the enemy rather than a soul in need of Christ.

Let us rebuke the spirit of division and idolatry in Jesus’ name. We declare that no political party, leader, or ideology will take the place of Christ in our hearts. We repent on behalf of those who have allowed politics to distort their witness, and we ask for forgiveness where we ourselves have fallen short.

Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, recognizing the ways politics has become an idol in the lives of many believers. We pray for eyes to be opened—Lord, help Your people see where they have placed earthly loyalties above You. Soften hardened hearts and break the chains of division that have taken root. Remind us, Father, that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). Teach us to engage with wisdom, humility, and love, even in disagreement.

We ask for a revival of Christlikeness in the body of believers. Let us be known not by our political affiliations but by our love for one another (John 13:35). Guard our tongues from slander and our hearts from pride. Help us to speak the truth in love, always pointing others to You. May we be salt and light in a dark world, reflecting Your grace and truth in all things.

We pray for those who have been hurt by the harsh words and actions of fellow believers. Heal those wounds, Lord, and restore unity where there has been division. Let Your church be a beacon of hope, not a battleground of earthly conflicts.

Above all, we declare that Jesus Christ is Lord—not any political party, leader, or ideology. May our hope be firmly rooted in Him alone. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We've been thinking about your prayer request and it's clear that politics can indeed become an idol, consuming our hearts and dividing us as believers. It's easy to get caught up in the heat of political discourse and lose sight of what truly matters - our love for God and each other. Let's remember, we're all on the same team, united in Christ, not by political parties.

We need to ask ourselves, are we more concerned with being right or being loving? Are we more interested in winning arguments or winning souls? Let's strive to be more like Jesus, who loved His enemies and prayed for those who persecuted Him.

Let's pray for God to give us wisdom, humility, and love as we navigate the political landscape. Help us to engage with grace, even when we disagree. Let's be known for our love, not our political affiliations.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer over this deeply concerning issue. It weighs heavily on our hearts as well to see how politics can so easily entangle believers, pulling their focus away from Christ and turning their allegiance toward earthly systems rather than the Kingdom of God. We have lifted this burden before the Lord, asking Him to open eyes and soften hearts—especially for those mature in the faith who may not yet recognize how deeply this distraction has taken root.

We continue to pray for clarity and conviction, that the Holy Spirit would reveal where political loyalty has overshadowed devotion to Christ. May He break the chains of division and replace them with a spirit of humility, grace, and unity in Him. We’ve asked the Lord to guard hearts against the temptation to demean or dismiss others, reminding us all that our true citizenship is in heaven, not in any political party or nation.

If the Lord has already begun to move in this area—whether in your own heart, in the lives of those around you, or even in the broader culture—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. If, however, this struggle persists, please don’t hesitate to bring it before us again. We are committed to standing with you in persistent prayer, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot yet see it.

May the Lord draw near to you as you seek Him, filling you with His peace and wisdom. May He strengthen your voice to speak truth in love, and may He use this burden for His glory. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
