pls pray that the move of my tenant is smooth. I have backcharged her a subjective large amt. She destroyed my carpet and wood floor she will be charged for it. I do not want retaliation from her nor vandalism to my property bc of her. pls pray that my unit is safe as am I

Give this landlord wisdom, patience, and grace as they interact with their tenant. Soften hearts, Lord, and help both parties to act with fairness and integrity. We ask that the move would be smooth, without conflict or retaliation, and that Your presence would be felt in every step of this process. We trust You to work all things together for good, and we ask for Your will to be done in this situation. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We also want to gently remind you that as believers, we are called to extend grace even in difficult circumstances. Colossians 3:13 says, "Bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do." While it is right to hold your tenant accountable for the damages, we pray that you would also be able to extend forgiveness and avoid bitterness. You have asked for prayer, and it shall be offered. We will plead with the Lord for a smooth and peaceable removal of your tenant, and for the safety of your person and your dwelling. The arm of Jehovah is not shortened that it cannot save; He can restrain the wrath of man and make even the most turbulent spirit as still as a weaned child. Though you fear retaliation and vandalism, remember that He who kept the lions’ mouths against Daniel stands sentry over the habitations of His people. Cast this care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Yet, let us not forget that we, too, are tenants at the absolute will of God. Our lease is not for years, nor even from day to day, but from second to second we hold precarious possession. A just tenant desires to restore to his landlord his property unhurt; so is it with the man who is right with God. You have sought what is rightfully owed for the damage, this is not in itself evil, but see to it that your heart cherishes no spirit of retaliation. He, far from grudging, stinting, or withholding, which would be a fit retaliation, succors us and multiplies His liberality. Let that same grace sweeten your dealings.

Fear has torment, and the Lord would cast it out. Our safety lies not in bolts and bars, but in our Saviour, God our Saviour. He is able to keep you from falling and to preserve your habitation from every evil design. The angel of the Lord encamps round about them that fear Him. Trust, then, in His wise and loving custody, and let this trial, if trial it be, only press you nearer to the wounds of Christ, where no malice of man can ever reach the soul that is kept by the power of God through faith.

You clutch at straw and polished wood as if they were your own, but we are all sojourners, and the tenant of the house is more truly perchance the owner of it. These goods are not a possession, but a loan for use. The carpet destroyed, the floor gouged, what is this loss when set beside the riches of heaven? We cannot take our wealth with us when we depart hence, but we can take our charities. You have charged her for the damage, and if the sum is just, for righteousness’ sake you need not tremble. The extortioners are the very persons who lose all, even as he certainly who is in love with righteousness possesses himself the goods of all men in safety.

Yet I hear the deeper fear quivering in your words: not merely the cost, but the dread of a vengeful hand, of your unit violated, of your own safety undone. What is this anxiety but the torment of one who trusts in walls and locks rather than in the Providence that orders all things? Remember Joseph: his brethren sold him, his mistress sought his ruin, and yet by the very means they schemed for evil, God wrought his deliverance and placed him in security. The house where that wild beast was kept was a den in comparison with which the prison was gentle. When he was in honor, then was he in danger; when he was in dishonor, then was he in safety. If you have acted uprightly, this very trial may be the door through which God leads you to a deeper trust.

But do not stand alone, staring at your door and imagining the worst. There is nothing equal to unanimity and concord; for so one is made manifold. Why do we not acquire this power and place ourselves in safety? Where is the body of believers surrounding you? A man guarded by many who love him cannot suffer harm, for love is far mightier than fear. Let the brethren pray with you, watch with you, be your twenty hands and twenty eyes. The foundation of all that is good is no other than love: where love exists, all the sins of covetousness, rapine, and malice are done away. Avail yourself of this sacred fellowship, and you will find a peace that no threat of retaliation can shake.

Your request for prayer is at a tender place, watching over your property while facing the possibility of someone acting out of anger. That kind of uncertainty can cling to your mind, and I understand why you want the move itself and your own safety wrapped in God’s care.

When I think of moments that feel fragile like this, my mind goes back to the ark. God gave Noah very specific instructions, and when the time came, Scripture says God shut him in. That door wasn’t sealed by human hands; the Lord Himself closed off what was outside, making the ark a place of safety while judgment churned beyond. You need that same kind of covering over your unit and over your own life right now. The One who is able to box in His people with mercy can just as easily keep harm from crossing your threshold.

You’ve made a choice to hold your tenant accountable for real damage. That’s not wrong, but you know that some choices stir up bitterness in others. And yet our God is not indifferent. He gave us the gift of choice precisely because it matters, and He honors that, even when others misuse theirs. You don’t have to exhaust yourself trying to anticipate retaliation or control what she might do. Instead, hand those fears over to the One who sees every secret motive. He is the keeper of justice, and you can trust Him to guard what belongs to you while He deals with whatever else needs dealing with.

The enemy would love to use this anxiety to eat away at your peace, but don’t give him that ground. Walk this week in the Spirit, keeping your heart before the Lord rather than chasing after every worst-case thought. His protection doesn’t require your panic.

Let me pray with you now: Father, I lift up this property and this landlord to You. Oversee every detail of the move, let it be uneventful, swift, and free of strife. Place an unseen wall around the unit so that no retaliation finds its way in. Calm any bitterness in the tenant, and if needed, redirect her entirely. Shield this child of Yours from harm, and let him rest tonight knowing that the same God who shut out the flood still seals His people in safety. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
