Your cry, though it be faint and broken, has come up unto God, and He has heard your groaning. You fear that you will faint, and your soul melts for heaviness, but this very weakness need not make you despair. Some kinds of weakness are of God's appointment and necessarily incident to manhood. They are not sinful, and therefore you may be subject to them without regret, and you may look to Him who is near to make you strong.
The Scripture says, out of weakness were made strong, and faith is the cure for such faintness. When the eyes of faith grow dim and the light of God's countenance seems withdrawn, we sigh and cry and groan and scarcely can call our lives our own. Yet wonder at the power of God, that He should use our very weakness as the channel for His strength. A natural weakness shall be exalted and be made the vehicle for spiritual strength. Believe that God will help you, and so out of weakness you shall be made strong.
Know this, that God is not far from you. He is near to hear your prayer, and infinite resources are near you. Does God care for ravens, and will He not care for you. Does He hearken to the unfledged ravens when they cry for food, and will He not hearken to you who cry for mercy through the blood of His dear Son. Your cry is far more pleasing to His ear than the cry of a raven, for you entreat for help in the name of Jesus. While the child can cry, it lives, and while you can besiege the throne of mercy, there is hope for you. Cry on, soul, cry on, and believe too, for believing brings the morning star.
Therefore cast all your care upon Christ, and refer your case to Him and look to Him for all that you need. David knew that the best place to find consolation was in God's Word, and though his eyes seemed to fail him he continued to look there. Pray with him, strengthen You me according unto Your word. Cry out of the depths of self abasement as a beggar who craves mercy, not as a creditor who demands, and use only this argument, Lord, hear me, for You are gracious and Jesus died.
May the Lord now draw your life into His life, and keep you from fainting. May He lift you out of your dead self by a sense of His living presence, and make you strong in life to trust Him. You need not be afraid, you need not be the captive of this faintness, for you are able to overcome by the divine help which is even now at hand.
