Your cry for safety has been heard and I am praying for you. God does not turn away from the afflicted when they call to Him. When you cry out to Him, He hears, and He draws near.
The Bible teaches that the answer to fear is the presence of God. That presence is always with His children, but what quiets the heart is becoming conscious of it. David said that even when he walked through the valley of the shadow of death he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. When we forget the Lord, fear grows. When we remember Him and set our minds on Him, fear loses its hold. Faith and fear cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where faith is strong and confidence in God is firm, fear must leave.
True safety is found by abiding in Christ. He Himself is our protection and our defense. The Scriptures also speak of another kind of fear, not a tormenting phobia but a reverent awe before God in His greatness and power and holiness. That reverent fear is described as the beginning and the sum of knowledge and wisdom. To fear the Lord in this way is to love what He loves and to hate evil and to turn away from it. When we walk in that reverence, honoring Him and departing from evil, we walk in the place where He can keep and bless and give health and strength to our lives.
You do not need to be afraid of sudden fear or of the distress that comes upon the world. The Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being taken. Do not let fear push you into hasty or unwise actions. Do what is wise and prudent before God, but do not be driven by fear. If God is your shelter, He can keep you wherever you are. Simply stay close to Him.
I am praying that God will make His presence very real to you right now, that He will quiet your heart, strengthen your faith, and guard you in His perfect peace. May you know that Jesus Christ is with you, that He is your light and your salvation and the strength of your life, and that because He is with you, you do not need to be afraid.
Father, I lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You see the need for safety and the burden of fear. Let this person sense Your nearness today. Fill the heart with faith and drive out fear. Cover this life with Your protection as one who abides in Christ. Teach the heart to reverence You, to love Your ways and turn from evil, and to rest in confidence that You are keeping every step. Give peace that goes beyond understanding and let Your presence be the comfort and shield. Amen.
