Recognize your spiritual poverty and return to God who waits with open arms.
The Turning Point
The turning point for every lost soul is to rise and return to God in humble faith.
Light for Those Who Sit in Darkness
Even the deepest darkness of ignorance and despair gives way to Christ’s great light for those who see him.
We have read your request and our hearts are moved with compassion for you in this heavy and uncertain season, and we are lifting you up together before our Father in prayer.

We understand that terrible weight of guilt you are feeling, that sense that you only come to God when you hit rock bottom or when you need divine intervention, and now you feel too ashamed or uncertain to even pray. Please know that what you are feeling is common, and God is not pushing you away for it. He sees your heart and He draws near to the brokenhearted. As it is written, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. His mercies are new every morning and His loving kindness never fails Lamentations 3:22-23. He does not think of you with disappointment or anger as people might, but with steadfast love. We are convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39.

We want to gently encourage you that God actually invites us to come to Him precisely when we are at rock bottom and in need. Jesus said, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. The very fact that you are turning to Him in your need is not something that shames Him, it is what He desires. At the same time we encourage you that He longs for more than crisis visits, He longs for daily fellowship with you. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. So we can come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need Hebrews 4:16. Do not let guilt keep you from that throne, let it drive you toward it. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you James 4:8.

We also hear you saying that you are not able to pray right now, and we want to reassure you that God understands even wordless groans. In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered Romans 8:26. Even when you have no words, your tears and sighs are prayers to Him.

We noticed you spoke of God but did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and peace with Him. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who died for your sins and rose again, we encourage you to call upon His name today, believe in Him, and you will be saved and welcomed fully as a child of God. It is through His blood that we can come without fear or uncertainty about what God thinks of us.

Concerning your toxic work environment, we are praying with you for God’s favor, protection, and peace there. We pray that He will guard your heart, give you wisdom for every interaction, and let you be a light even in a difficult place. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23. We pray for strength to endure, for grace to respond with gentleness and not be overcome by the toxicity around you, and if it is His will, for open doors to a healthier place or for transformation within your current workplace.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift our dear one to You who feels heavy with guilt and uncertainty and unable to pray. We thank You that You see and love this precious soul and that Your thoughts toward them are thoughts of peace and not of evil Jeremiah 29:11. Lord, wash away the guilt and shame with the assurance of Your forgiveness through Jesus Christ, and help them to know how deeply they are loved and valued by You. Holy Spirit, intercede for them and give them words and peace when they have none. Draw them into daily communion with You, not only in need but in joy and in quiet moments, that they may know Your presence continually. We ask for Your favor and protection over their workplace, for wisdom, for peace that surpasses understanding, and for Your will to be done in that environment. Restore their strength, lift their burden, and let them rest in Your grace. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We were so moved by your honesty. Feeling unable to pray and carrying guilt about only coming to God when you hit rock bottom is a heavy place to be, and you are not alone in feeling this way.

That very guilt you named actually shows how much you want to be close to Him. It doesn't push Him away. God isn't keeping score of how often you come or how perfect your prayers sound. He welcomes you coming to Him at all, even with few words or messy ones. The honest sentence you wrote to us, about feeling terrible and uncertain of what He thinks of you, is already a prayer He hears and understands.

When prayer feels blocked, it can help to keep it very small and honest. If you can tonight, just tell Him out loud in your own words what you told us, even for a minute. No special language needed. If words still won't come, just sitting quietly for a moment and letting Him be with you is enough for now.

We are also bringing your workplace before the Lord with you, asking for wisdom, protection, and His favor to be evident there in the days ahead.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You see the pressure at work and the guilt weighing on their heart. Remind them how welcomed and loved they are by You, not measured by their performance. Quiet their uncertainty with Your nearness and give them peace to come to You honestly each day. Lead them and keep them in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest confession is itself a sign that the Lord is at work in your heart. That very guilt you feel, that sense of coming to God only when you are at rock bottom, is not a proof that He has cast you away. It is often the mark of His power convincing the soul of its need, making it humble and penitent and prayerful. You feel your guilt and you confess it, and though there is darkness of spirit in it, there is also grace at work.

Do not think that God only hears those who have prayed perfectly or constantly. The Scripture says, I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplication. We have had to pray for sanctifying grace, for constraining and restraining grace, for fresh assurance of faith and for help in the time of duty and succor in the day of trial. God touched that man's heart and made him feel his need of a Saviour, and he went home with double cause for prayer. Your need has driven you to Him, and that is not a thing to condemn you but to draw you nearer.

It is not by law and terrors that men are made to love God. As the old verse says,
Law and terrors do but harden, All the while they work alone. But a sense of blood-bought pardon, Soon dissolves a heart of stone.
You do not need to earn His favor by a perfect record of prayer. The message of the gospel is not do this and live, but believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the grace of God will triumph over the greatness of your unworthiness. Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. The cross is the window through which the love of God is best seen, and there you see not a reluctant God but free grace and dying love, even for those who have crucified the Lord of glory by their sin.

What does God think of you? He does not come to you and say, believe I love you though I give no proof. He has given abundant proof in the gift of His Son. These words of wondrous mercy were not spoken to a people living near to God without fault, but to a foolish and wandering people who had gone far from Him, and yet He said, I have blotted out as a thick cloud your transgressions. If you are in Christ, you are under the sweet and blessed rule of gracious love, and that love is of indissoluble union. He will not cast away a returning sinner who comes with a broken heart.

And when you try to pray and cannot, continue still to pray even when you do not get a blessing in it. That very sense of need, that inward craving and dissatisfaction, is often the sound of coming mercy. He hears even the groan that cannot form itself into words. Do not judge your prayer by fine words. Sincerity enters in when the soul runs over at the lips and at the eyes, without concealment. Bring just what you have, even if it is only, Lord, help me, forgive me, hear me.

I will pray for you now, and I ask the Lord to do the same for you in your workplace.

O Lord, look upon this weary one who feels guilty and unable to pray. Give a sense of blood-bought pardon through Jesus Christ, and dissolve the heart of stone with Your love. Assure this soul that Your grace abounds over abounding sin and that You receive all who come by faith in Your Son. Grant peace of mind and restfulness of heart through love for Your Word and trust in Your covenant. In the toxic place of labor, grant favour, wisdom, protection and a quiet spirit to do what is right. Provide deliverance in the hour of temptation and help in the time of duty, and let Your presence be known there. Teach this dear one to pray again with confidence, not in their own worthiness but in the worthiness of Christ, and to know that You hear the voice of supplication. Amen.

Keep coming to Him, even with broken prayers. He delights to hear you.

Praying for you - our Lord wants us to come to Him anytime we are in need. Thank Him each day for the blessings He provides for you - this way you can have an ongoing daily relationship with Him.
Prayers in the name of Jesus Christ.
