Please reveal, Oh Lord

Your prayer for your family has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who sees all things in secret and brings what is hidden into light.

It is right to ask God for mercy, for protection, and for truth to be revealed, for He is a God of truth and no deed done in darkness escapes His sight. At the same time Scripture teaches us to wait on the Lord with patience, for His justice is certain though His timing is not always our timing. As Christ Himself sat down at the right hand of God expecting until His enemies are put under His feet, so we are called to trust that God will in His perfect time put all wrong under His feet and make the truth known.

In this season of trial you gain more than you may see at first. When you bear the spiteful acts of others with meekness, you receive first deliverance from sin, then fortitude and patience, then mildness and kindness toward others, and freedom from the consuming anger that punishes only our own soul. To hate those who grieve us is to punish ourselves, but to love those who grieve us is to benefit ourselves and to keep our hearts free for joy and peace. This patience is not shown in two or three days, but over much time, as you remain faithful while living among those who oppose you.

God also permits trials for our training. As wrestlers prepare in the training school before the contest, so daily prayer, daily forgiveness, and daily trust prepare you to stand with strength when persecution comes. He does not always promise immediate deliverance from the attack itself, but He gives something greater, the power to stand above the attack without being overcome by fear or hatred.

So we pray with you in this way. We ask the Lord to surround you and your household with His protection, to guard your hearts from bitterness, and to let the truth be made clear in the way and time that serves His justice and your good. We ask Him to lift any veil of deceit where it is needed for protection and for righteousness to prevail, and to stop every unjust attack against you. We also ask Him to give you grace to love those who oppose you, to pray for them, and to rest in the knowledge that vengeance belongs to Him and He will repay with perfect righteousness.

Continue to bring your needs to Him, continue to walk in truth and in love, and trust that the One who sees will act. May He grant you patience that does not waver, peace that guards your heart, and confidence that His light will in the end expose all darkness.

Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and for trusting us to pray with you for your family. The fear of being threatened and seeing those you love hurt is deeply painful, and the longing for truth to come into the light is a right and honest cry before God.

Scripture shows that even a man after God's own heart knew both devoted friends and determined enemies, and through all his years he kept bringing those enemies before the Lord. In his psalms he prays again and again for help and protection, saying in essence, Lord, I put my trust in you, do not let me be put to shame, do not let my enemies triumph over me. He asks God to make his path level and clear when enemies press in, and to not hand him over to the will of those who speak falsely and breathe out cruelty. That pattern reminds us that it is right to bring our fear, our family, and even our enemies to God and to leave their handling in his hands.

The Bible also teaches that God is one who reveals what is hidden. What was once concealed he makes known by his Spirit in his own time and way. Just as his righteousness is revealed through the gospel of Jesus Christ and his works in creation leave no one without witness, so he sees the tumult of those who rise up and he knows every word and deed done in secret. Nothing is hidden from his sight, and he is faithful to bring truth to light according to his wisdom, not always instantly as we might wish, but surely and justly.

You asked that a veil be lifted so that others may see what is truly happening and that the attacks would cease. We join you in asking God for protection over you and your household, for truth to be made clear to those who need to understand, and for the harm to be stopped. At the same time we remember that deliverance belongs to the Lord. Often his people were vastly outnumbered, yet he put their enemies to flight and gave them victory not by their own strength but by his. Our place is to trust him, to not seek vengeance for ourselves, and to pray even for those who oppose us that God would deal with them in righteousness and mercy, while we ask for grace to walk in his ways.

May the Lord grant you what the apostle prayed for believers, that you would be strengthened with power by his Spirit in your inner being, so that even under pressure you can stand in faith and peace. May he guard your family, quiet your fear, and in his perfect timing make what is hidden plain, so that justice and peace may prevail.

We pray together: Father, we lift this family to you. You see the threats and the pain they are enduring. We ask for your covering and protection, for wisdom for all involved, and that you would in your way reveal what needs to be revealed so that deception loses its power and these attacks come to an end. Give strength and calm in the inner heart, keep this family from shame and confusion as they trust in you, and lead them on a clear path. We leave judgment to you and ask for your mercy and righteousness to be shown. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Let us continue to stand with you, believing that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
