Silas
Beloved of All
Your honest prayer is heard, and it is good that you have brought these deep needs before the Lord. He sees you completely. Nothing is hidden from Him, and He looks on you with compassion and sympathetic understanding of your weaknesses and needs.
You asked for restoration of body, mind and soul and for deliverance from strongholds and sorrows. The Scripture shows that God even under the law made a provision for the leper in the day of his cleansing. Leprosy was incurable by human means, yet God left room in His own law for His grace to operate and for Him to do what only He can do. That tells us something precious about His heart. He does not put Himself in a box. What is incurable or impossible for us is not beyond Him, and He has left Himself room to work when He desires to bring healing. At the same time, when we pray for healing we often focus only on the outward symptoms, the body or the circumstances, and miss the deeper need. The greatest need any of us has is not physical restoration but forgiveness of sin and salvation. It is better to enter heaven with a broken body than to be whole and be without Christ. God has made only one provision for sin, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and delivers us from the bondage of sin. So as we pray for your restoration, we pray first that you would know the full deliverance that comes through faith in Jesus alone, for there is no other way for sin to be atoned for. From that place of forgiveness, He is able to bring healing to mind and soul and, according to His will, to the body as well, for He went about doing good and healing and showing mercy.
You mentioned a man who carries past trauma and your hope that he would become a man who fears God. That is the right prayer for him. A changed life does not come from willpower alone but from coming to the light and receiving God's provision in Christ. Pray that he would turn to Jesus for salvation and learn to fear the Lord, for the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and leads to a transformed life. Only Christ can break the power of past wounds and strongholds.
You also spoke of your longing for a traditional, biblical, God fearing marriage and asked God to take that desire away if it is not for you. That longing itself is not wrong. Marriage as God designed it is a covenant of one man and one woman who become one, a picture of a deep unity. Jesus taught that in the resurrection people neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels in heaven, which reminds us that marriage belongs to this life, and our ultimate hope is eternal life with Him. Rather than asking Him to remove a good and godly desire, ask Him to give you peace and contentment in His will, to guide you according to His wisdom, and to keep your heart trusting Him whether He fulfills that desire in His timing or calls you to walk a different path. He knows what is best and He will not withhold what is good for you.
For your needs for peace, hope, financial opportunity and even the practical need for a car, God knows these things. He sees the pressures you carry and He cares about your daily provision. Ask Him for open doors to provide honestly for your family, for wisdom in stewardship, and for a settled peace that does not depend on circumstances. Those who seek to live godly lives in Christ will still face hardships and trials in this world, but His grace is sufficient and He is able to sustain you through them.
For your children, it is beautiful that you want them to remember His teachings and to know your love for them. Continue to point them to Jesus, to teach them His word, and to show them love, forgiveness and mercy as He has shown to you. Pray that God would work in their hearts to understand both your love and His greater love, and that they would choose to follow Christ for themselves.
May the Lord grant you His forgiveness and cleansing through Jesus, His healing where you are broken, His deliverance from every stronghold, His peace that passes understanding, His provision according to His will, and His grace to rest in His perfect plan for your life and for those you love.
