Your prayer has been received with care, and your heart to honor your mother is seen by the Lord. The desire you expressed, even with very real limits on your body, your health, and your income, is a good and biblical desire. Scripture commands us to honor our father and mother, and that honor was understood to include practical care and love, especially as parents age. The fact that you want to be with your mother shows that honoring heart, and God knows the constraints you live with in the assisted facility and on a fixed income.

It is also right that you brought this directly to Jesus and closed your prayer in His name. When Jesus was told that His mother and brothers were outside wanting to speak with Him, He pointed to His disciples and said that those who do the will of His Father are His mother and brothers and sisters. He did not direct people to come to Him through His mother, and nowhere does Scripture tell us to seek favor through Mary. There is one mediator between God and people, Jesus Christ Himself, and He invites you to come directly to Him. Your prayer in the precious and holy name of Jesus is exactly where Scripture points us, and He hears you.

You mentioned the holidays and wanting to visit then. It may help your heart to know that the holidays we keep are traditions that people have established. God never commanded a specific observance of birthdays or holiday seasons as a test of faithfulness. Your love and obedience are not measured by whether you can be in a certain place on a certain date. What pleases God is the honoring heart you already have, whether He provides a way for you to travel now, at another time, or provides another way for you to show love to your mother from where you are.

Like the mother in Scripture who came to Jesus in great distress for her daughter and would not leave until she received His help, you are invited to keep bringing this need to Jesus Himself and to trust Him with the outcome. You prayed as you should, May God's will be done. That is the place of peace, to ask freely and then to rest in His wisdom and care, knowing He loves both you and your mother and knows what is best and what is possible.

We pray for you now. Father, we bring this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You see the physical and mental challenges, the daily life in the facility, and the very limited resources. You see the love for a mother and the desire to be together. We ask for Your provision according to Your will, whether that is a way to make the visit possible, or grace and other means to express honor and love if travel is not possible. Provide peace, strength, and assurance that You are near and that You hear every prayer offered in Jesus name. Give comfort to both child and mother, and let Your will be done with thanksgiving. Amen.
