Beloved of All
Your heart for those who feel trapped and tormented has been heard, and the weight of what you describe is not hidden from the Lord. To live with the sense that suffering has no end date, that every reaction is used against you and even trying to do what is demanded brings no relief, creates deep exhaustion and fear. God sees that anguish and He invites those who suffer to bring it honestly before Him.
Scripture tells us that God delights in mercy and that His mercy endures forever. In every season and under every circumstance His mercy remains. He is not eager to bring judgment but longs to show mercy, and He has provided the way for mercy and truth to meet together. That meeting happened in Jesus Christ. On the cross, justice was satisfied because the penalty for sin was paid, and mercy was extended because forgiveness was offered. Through Jesus alone we can have peace with God, be made righteous before Him, and find a true mercy seat where we can come for grace and help. There is no other way of salvation, only through faith in Him.
Because of that, we do not pray for the death of those who do evil or ask God to destroy what they value in order to force an outcome. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He will deal justly in His own perfect way and timing. What we can and do pray is that God would restrain evil, protect those who are suffering, bring conviction where there is hardness of heart, and lead those who do wrong to repentance. We pray for mercy for the afflicted and for mercy even for enemies, that they might turn and be changed, just as God has shown undeserved mercy to us.
The Bible also reminds us that God is sovereign in showing mercy. He has mercy on whom He will have mercy, and His compassion is not earned by our ability to endure or to perfectly control our reactions. When David cried out, Have mercy upon me, O God, he was casting himself wholly on God's tender mercies, not on his own strength. You can do the same. The Lord is your light and your salvation, whom shall you fear. He is the strength of your life, and in the time of trouble He can hide you in His shelter and be your defense and refuge. He is able to deliver from every stronghold that has taken hold in the mind and heart, and the song of deliverance belongs to Jesus who sets captives free.
All of God's paths toward those who keep His covenant and walk in His ways are mercy and truth. His goodness and mercy follow His children all the days of their lives, and He will complete the work that concerns you. That does not mean the pain is imagined or that you should walk alone. Let us pray now that the Lord would pour out His mercy. May He bring relief and protection to those who feel hunted and exhausted, quiet fear with His presence, guard minds and hearts in Christ Jesus, expose and restrain what is evil, bring justice according to His righteousness, and draw all who are involved to the truth and mercy found only in Jesus. May those who suffer learn to cry out daily for His mercy, trust in His power to deliver, and rest in the promise that He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.
