Please pray that I stop giving into lust.

We join you in this honest and humble cry for deliverance and we thank you for bringing this struggle into the light, for what is brought into the light can be healed and forgiven.

We want to lovingly rebuke and correct the hold that lust has had, because Scripture is clear that lust is not to be excused or simply managed but to be fled from and put to death through Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. And 1 Corinthians 6:18 commands us to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Lust begins in the mind and soul but it defiles the whole person, and whether it leads to looking at pornography, entertaining fantasies, or fornication and adultery outside of marriage between a man and a woman, it is sin before a holy God and must be repented of. Yet there is great hope, for 1 John 1:9 promises if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We also notice your prayer was addressed to God but did not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and receive forgiveness and power to overcome sin. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 teaches there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So we must come to God in the name of Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and trusting Him alone to save us and to deliver us. Without His blood and His Spirit we cannot have chastity in mind and soul.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we lift up our brother who is asking for deliverance from lust. We confess this sin before You and ask for Your mercy and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him as in Psalm 51:10. Grant him chastity in his mind and soul, and teach him to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh according to Galatians 5:16. Give him strength to flee as 2 Timothy 2:22 says, flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Help him to make no provision for the flesh as in Romans 13:14, to guard his eyes and his heart, and to set his mind on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report as in Philippians 4:8. We ask that You deliver him from temptation, for You have promised in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that You will not allow us to be tempted above what we are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that we may be able to endure it. Let him walk in that escape by Your grace. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to walk this out daily with practical obedience. Hide the Word in your heart as Psalm 119:11 says, Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you, and let Psalm 119:9 guide you, How can a young man keep his way pure, By living according to your word. Guard what your eyes see and where your feet go, remove sources of temptation from your phone, computer and entertainment, and do not linger in places or with thoughts that feed lust, for James 1:14-15 warns that each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed, then the lust when it has conceived bears sin. Bring this struggle into accountable fellowship with a mature Christian brother or pastor, confess regularly, and pray together, for James 5:16 says confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. And present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God as in Romans 12:1, renewing your mind daily.

God is faithful and He desires your purity and holiness more than you do. Do not be discouraged by past failures, but rise again, repent quickly, and keep pressing toward Christ who is able to keep you from stumbling. We are praying with you for lasting victory and a mind and soul kept pure for the Lord, whether He calls you to a life of singleness devoted to Him or to a godly marriage to one Christian wife where intimacy is holy within that covenant alone.

We appreciate your honesty in bringing this struggle into the light. Asking for prayer for purity of mind and soul takes humility, and we are grateful you trusted us with it.

Lust can feel like it is only about willpower in the moment, but often it points to a deeper longing for closeness, comfort, or relief that we try to satisfy outside God's design. Wanting what we were not meant to have can quickly become more important than our walk with God, and it can leave us feeling empty and isolated even while we crave connection. Recognizing that pattern with honesty is part of how change begins.

One thing that has helped many who struggle in this area is steady accountability rather than fighting alone. Consider inviting one trusted same-sex believer who is committed to purity to be a regular, honest check-in for you. It also helps to clear away what trips you up when you are strong, not when temptation is already present, and to notice the specific places, times, or stresses where you feel most vulnerable so you can plan ahead with prayer and a different choice.

We also depend on the work of the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside, not just to manage behavior. He can make us new as we surrender each day to Christ.

Father, we lift our brother to You and ask for Your mercy and strength. Deliver him from the hold of lust and grant him chastity in mind and soul. Give him willing and humble accountability, wisdom to remove what entangles him, and a growing desire for You above all else. Keep him close to You and make him new in Christ. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a gracious token of the Holy Spirit's work in you that you confess this sin and desire to be delivered from it, rather than to excuse it. The Lord loves an honest heart that cries for purity, and He is able to give what He commands.

Scripture warns us plainly that when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. That is the pedigree of sin. Any sin that we cling to and love will bring forth death, rest assured of that. And without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Charity without purity will be of no use, and purity is not an optional ornament of the Christian life but a necessary garment. God has ordained that sex and all its intimacies belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and outside of that, He calls His people to chastity in body, in mind and in soul through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

You do well to pray, Lead us not into temptation. Temptation in itself is a thing very dangerous, though God may bring great benefit out of it when He tries us. All temptation from Satan is also a trial from God, yet we are taught to pray that we may be spared from too great trials lest we fall by their overcoming our faith and steadfastness. Pray it earnestly, and then never go into temptation. The man who prays Lead us not into temptation and then willfully goes into it is a liar before God. If you would have chastity, you must flee the occasions of lust, withdraw Divine Grace being your only strength, guard your eyes, guard your thoughts, guard your steps, and keep far from the place where the snare is laid.

Your strength for this battle is not in your own resolve but in looking to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. Worldlings do not understand this, but to us Christ is alive, our familiar Friend, our present Helper. Saints first learn to overcome evil, and then they learn to overcome Him who is Goodness itself with the glance of faith and love. Give Him another overcoming glance. Look to Him when the temptation presses, cry to Him in the moment of assault, and long for His appearing and His power to keep you.

Let us pray together for you.

O most merciful Father, who hast revealed salvation through Jesus Christ alone, we bring this soul before Thy throne of grace. Thou knowest his struggle and his desire to be clean. Forgive him through the blood of Christ, and deliver him from the spirit of lust that wars against the soul. Withdraw him from the paths of temptation, and by Thy grace keep his feet from slipping. Grant him chastity in his mind and soul, cleanse his thoughts, make his heart pure, and set his affections upon Christ. Teach him to hate the sin while he hates also the temptation, and to walk in holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. Save him from the mischief of temptation, let him not stain his garments, but cause him to stand fast at the end of the day, kept by Thy power. Fill him with Thy Spirit, that he may find greater joy in purity than ever sin could promise, and make him to know that Thou art his strength and his song. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is able to keep us from falling. Amen.

Walk humbly, watch prayerfully, and keep your eyes upon Christ. He who has begun this good work of convicting and humbling you is faithful to perfect it as you abide in Him.

Your request has been heard and we join with you in prayer, thanking God that you have brought this struggle into the light instead of hiding it.

Scripture teaches that the desire God placed in us was given for good, for the lifelong covenant of marriage, but lust corrupts that good and turns it toward sin. We are told to flee from it and to follow peace and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord, and to be an example in purity of life. You are not alone in this battle. No temptation has seized you except what is common to humanity, and God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape so that you can endure it.

We pray for you now.

Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, who was put to death for our sins and raised to justify us. We ask for your mercy and power for this dear one who desires to be free from lust. Deliver him from its hold, cleanse his mind and soul, and grant him chastity and self control. Guard his eyes and his thoughts, teach him to turn away quickly from what tempts him, and to walk in purity. Give him strength to endure, and show him the way of escape you have promised in every moment of temptation. Fill him with your Spirit, so that he may live with a clear conscience and grow in charity, faith and holiness. Restore to him joy in your forgiveness and help him to live as a living example of your grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this honest request and for asking for prayer. God hears a humble heart that wants to be clean before Him, and He is ready to help you walk in purity.

It is important to understand that being tempted is not itself sin. Every person faces temptation, and even Jesus was tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Because He has felt the pressure of temptation, He understands your struggle and is able to show mercy and give grace to help you. The sin comes when desire is allowed to conceive and we choose to follow it.

Temptation always presents a choice. It invites you to find immediate satisfaction by stepping away from God's path and walking according to the flesh instead of walking according to the Spirit. The battle is within, for the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. Scripture describes the ways this appeal comes as the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life. These things belong to the world, not to the Father, and the world with its desires is passing away. When we see temptation for what it is, a solicitation to evil that cannot truly satisfy, we can make a better choice.

You are not alone in this fight, and you are not without hope. The Bible says no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to everyone, and God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, and with every temptation He will provide a way of escape so that you can stand under it. He provides the way, but we must take it. That often means fleeing, just as Scripture tells us to flee youthful lusts. It takes more courage to run from a tempting situation than to give in to it, but running is the right and strong thing to do. Do not feed the lust and expect it to go away. Lust is never satisfied by indulging it. The only way to weaken it is to starve it, to turn away and not make provision for it.

God has also given you His Word as a defense. When Jesus was tempted He answered with what is written. Hiding God's Word in your heart gives you truth to answer the lie of temptation in the moment. Remember also who you are in Christ. You have died with Him and your life is hidden with Him. You do not have to be mastered by the flesh any longer. You can reckon yourself dead to that old pull and alive to God, choosing by His Spirit to walk a different way.

I pray for you now that God will strengthen you in this battle. Father, I ask in the name of Jesus that You would deliver my brother from the power of lust and grant purity to his mind and soul. Give him a love for Your Word and bring it to his mind when he is tempted. Make clear to him the way of escape that You promise and give him courage to take it quickly, to turn away and to flee when temptation presses in. Fill him with Your Spirit so that he walks by the Spirit and not by the flesh. Help him to starve what is of the world and to set his affection on Christ, who is touched by his weakness and intercedes for him. Lead him into patience as his faith is tested, and keep him in the joy of knowing he is forgiven and made new. Teach him to choose life, that sin when it is finished brings death, but Your gift is life. Keep him and make him strong to stand. Amen.

Keep turning to Jesus, keep staying in the Word, and keep stepping away from places and images that stir lust. If you fall, do not stay down. Confess it quickly, receive His forgiveness, and get up to walk again by His grace. He is with you to give you victory.
