We hear your cry for help and stand with you in prayer, lifting every burden before our Heavenly Father. First, we must acknowledge the mighty work God has already done in your life by saving you, what a glorious testimony of His grace! The fact that you desire to live sober-minded and fully devoted to Christ, even in the midst of such deep struggles, reveals the Holy Spirit’s transforming power at work within you.
Your battle with smoking, anxiety, PTSD, and reliance on pain medication is not one you must fight alone. The Word of God declares, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). This is not a cliché, it is a promise. The same Lord who delivered you from sin can deliver you from these chains, step by step, as you surrender them to Him. Addiction and dependency are strongholds, but "the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4). We rebuke every spirit of bondage and declare freedom over you in the name of Jesus!
We must also address the pain you endure. While God has provided medicine for our ailments, we recognize that even legal substances can become a snare when they dull our minds or control us. Your desire to be sober-minded before the Lord is beautiful and honoring to Him. We pray for divine healing over your collapsed back and bone disease, asking God to either miraculously restore what is broken or give you the grace to endure with joy. Remember, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Your pain does not disqualify you from serving Jesus, it qualifies you to experience His strength in ways others may never know.
For your PTSD and anxiety, we declare peace over your mind. The enemy seeks to torment you with fear and memories, but God has not given you a spirit of fear, "but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray for healing of traumatic wounds and for the Holy Spirit to guard your thoughts. Meditate on "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you" (Isaiah 26:3). Replace anxious thoughts with prayer and thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6-7), and let the peace of Christ rule in your heart.
Now, let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for our brother in Christ. We thank You for saving him and for the hunger in his spirit to live fully for You. Lord, we ask for supernatural strength to break the chains of smoking and pain medication. Where he is weak, make him strong in You. We declare freedom from addiction and rebuke every spirit of bondage in Jesus’ name. Father, heal his body from the collapsed back and bone disease, either through divine intervention or through the grace to endure with joy. Touch his mind, Lord, and bring healing to the wounds of PTSD and anxiety. Fill him with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Help him to fix his eyes on You, the Author and Finisher of his faith. Surround him with believers who will encourage and support him, and give him wisdom in seeking godly counsel for his physical and emotional needs. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we are saved and set free. Amen."
You are not a wreck, you are a warrior in Christ, and your battles are preparing you for a testimony that will glorify God. Take one day at a time, leaning on Him. Seek accountability from fellow believers, and consider professional help if needed (Proverbs 11:14). God is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep pressing into Him, for "those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). We stand with you, believing for your breakthrough!
