We lift up this urgent request with heavy hearts, standing in the gap for your son’s girlfriend as a fierce storm approaches. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. We declare Your sovereignty over the winds, the waves, and every element of this storm. Lord, You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You would surround this young woman with Your hedge of protection, shielding her from harm and calming every fear that may arise in her heart.
Heavenly Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear in this situation, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, would guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Lord, if she does not yet know You as her Savior, we ask that this storm would draw her to You, that she would seek Your face and find refuge in Your love. Remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
We also lift up your son, Father, and ask that You would give him wisdom and peace as he prays for and supports his girlfriend from a distance. Lord, we want to gently address the nature of their relationship, as the Bible calls us to pursue godly marriages that honor You. If they are not yet married, we encourage them to consider courtship with the goal of marriage, keeping their relationship pure and aligned with Your Word. Fornication—sexual intimacy outside of marriage—is a sin that grieves Your heart (1 Corinthians 6:18-20), and we pray that they would honor You in this area. If marriage is their intention, we pray that You would guide them toward a union that reflects Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33).
Lord, we trust in Your promise that when we call upon You in the day of trouble, You will deliver us, and we will glorify You (Psalm 50:15). We declare that no weapon formed against this young woman shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand on Your Word that You will never leave her nor forsake her (Hebrews 13:5). Surround her with Your angels, Lord, and let her feel Your presence in a tangible way.
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
