Please pray nothing bad will happen

Disciple of Prayer
I am really stressed because a lot of bad things have happened to me recently. Please pray that I get a break from all this and things do get better, even for a while. I’m scared I may have made a mistake today but I don’t know yet. Please pray I did not

We hear your stress and fear and we are lifting you up together before our Father in prayer right now. We know what it is to feel worn down when one hard thing after another happens, and to be anxious about whether a mistake has been made. We want you to know that God sees you in this and He cares deeply for you.

The word of God tells us to bring our anxieties directly to Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 He also says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 We are not promised in this life that nothing bad will ever happen, but we are promised that God will be with us through every trial and that He is working for our good. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18

We also notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why that matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. When we pray in Jesus name we come to God not on our own merit but on the merit of His Son.

We also want to address your fear about having made a mistake today. We all make mistakes, and God invites us to bring them to Him honestly. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 If you did make a mistake, God can forgive, redeem, and guide you in what to do next. If you did not, He can quiet your fear and show you clearly. Either way, you do not have to carry this alone.

So together we pray for you. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who is stressed, weary, and afraid. Lord, You see every hard thing that has happened recently and You know the weight they are carrying. We ask You to grant a season of rest and relief, and to let things get better by Your mercy. We pray for Your perfect peace to guard their heart and mind. We ask that You calm their fear and remind them that they are not alone, for You have said Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 We pray about the possible mistake today, Lord reveal the truth, forgive what needs forgiving, and give wisdom for any next steps. Lead them away from fear and into trust in You. We pray they will come to You and find rest, as You have said Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep casting your cares on Him each day, to spend time in His word, and to share your burdens with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can walk with you. God is near and He will uphold you even in this difficult stretch. We are continuing to pray that you will feel His peace and His presence, and that you will see His goodness break through even for a while as you trust Him.

We can hear how worn down you are after so many hard things coming one after another. It makes sense you would feel on edge and be hoping for a break, and that the uncertainty tonight about whether you made a mistake would feel especially heavy. Not knowing yet makes waiting harder, and our minds often fill in the worst while we wait.

Since you can't get a clear answer until later, it can help to give tonight a boundary. If it helps, jot down just what you know happened today and what is still unknown, then set it aside until morning when you can check the facts with a clear head or with someone you trust to give you a straight answer. Try to stay connected tonight, even briefly, with one steady person, and give yourself space for rest so worry doesn't have to carry the whole night alone. We are holding you in prayer for that breathing room you asked for, even a season of steadier days. If this stretched thin feeling keeps building, talking with a pastor or counselor alongside prayer can be a steady support.

Father, we bring our friend before You tonight. You see the weight of these recent weeks and the fear about today. We ask for Your mercy and care, for protection and a needed break, and for peace while they wait for clarity. Show them what is true about today and give wisdom for any next step. Keep them close and remind them they are not alone. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your trembling request has been heard and has been carried to the throne of grace, and we have prayed for you.

You speak as one pressed down with many sorrows and thronging cares, fearing what may come and fearing what you may have already done. This is a dark world of care, and when sorrows surge round and duties press, the heart is soon wearied. Yet there is a word for such a time as this, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. That peace is not the poor peace of thoughtlessness which cannot endure consideration, nor a peace that has no foundation, for there is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. It is peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and peace in the conscience through His blood. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and that peace may be enjoyed in the ordinary circumstances of life, even while you wait and know not what the morrow may bring.

We have prayed that the Lord would give you that keeping. Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Fear is weakening and fear dishonours God, as though the arm which piled the heavens should be palsied. Therefore the Lord says so often and so tenderly, Fear not. Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. It is not merely a preacher who says, Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. To be afraid is to disobey that kind command. Labor then to get rid, as much as possible, of fear, by trusting in promised strength.

We have prayed that God would grant you a breathing space from this press of trouble, according to His mercy, and that He would steady your mind upon Himself. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. Bear your sorrow with Him and see what perfect peace you will enjoy, even with sorrows surging round. In Jesus keeping we are safe.

And concerning the fear that you may have made a mistake today, we have prayed that the Lord would make plain what is right, and keep you from evil, and show you the way of wisdom. If there has been sin, go straight to God for pardon through Jesus Christ. We are lost through one, the first Adam, and we are saved through One, the Second Adam. Salvation is through the blood of Another, through the merits of Another, and if you are willing to have it so, though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow. Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom also we have received the atonement. That peace is the fountain, and peace in the conscience is the stream that issues from it. He that is at peace with God will be careful lest he lose that peace, and will seek after holiness.

May the Lord, who is the God of all peace, speak to your heart, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and give you to know that His anger is turned away. May He deliver you from being all your lifetime subject to bondage through fear, for in proportion as faith gets stronger, fear will vanish.

We have prayed thus, that the Lord would help you, keep you, forgive you for Christ's sake, and keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him.
