Your request for prayer for the swelling in your throat has been heard and we join with you in asking the Lord for His help.
Jesus gave His disciples a pattern for prayer that helps us understand how to come to God. It begins with relationship. He taught us to pray to our Father, and that relationship comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. If that relationship is not yet settled, the first prayer God desires to hear is the humble cry for mercy, asking God to forgive sin through Christ. Once we are His children, we have the privilege of bringing every need to Him as Father.
When we bring a need for healing, we come to the One who reveals Himself as the Lord who heals. He knows what you need before you ask, so prayer is not informing Him of something He does not know, and it is not trying to wear Him down until He gives in. True prayer seeks to see His will done. It starts with Him, as He places His purposes on our hearts, and we then speak those desires back to Him, trusting Him to act in the way that is best. For that reason the wisest prayer we can pray in any trial is for His perfect will to be done in our lives, even as we honestly ask for relief and healing.
The Scriptures show that praying for the sick was a normal part of the life of Jesus and the early church. We are told that the earnest prayer of a righteous person that comes from the heart is powerful and effective, and Jesus said that when two or three agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done by the Father. In that spirit we agree with you now.
We pray together for you. Father in heaven, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ and acknowledge that You are holy and sovereign and full of mercy. We thank You that You are the Lord our healer and that You care for every part of our lives. We lift up this swelling in the throat and ask for Your healing touch, that You would bring down the inflammation, remove what is causing it, and restore comfort and health according to Your will. Give wisdom for any care that is needed and give peace to the heart while waiting on You. Above all, let Your will be done in this situation, and let Your strength and grace be known. If healing is Your answer, we will give You thanks. If You choose to sustain through continued weakness, help to trust that Your grace is sufficient and Your strength is made perfect in weakness. Draw this dear one closer to Yourself and assure them of Your presence and love through Jesus Christ. Amen.
