please pray for ###

Kuydoreth

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me that God give me the same thing I have felt in my former friend, ###. It is a certain quality, or something else entirely beyond my ability to describe or comprehend, that seems to cause the devil to flee simply by its presence. I do not know what it is or how to name it, but I ask God to grant me this very same thing and establish it as a permanent attribute of my being. so that the devil flees whenever he draws near. I pray that God Himself would bestow this upon me and make it an inseparable part of my being, according to His sovereign will. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

We hear your heart and we join with you in seeking the Lord for this deep desire. What you describe, that holy quality in your former friend that caused the enemy to flee simply by its presence, is something we understand as the manifest presence of Christ dwelling within a person through the Holy Spirit. It is not a mystical force that can be transferred from one person to another, but the fruit of a life fully submitted and abiding in Jesus. We do not seek an experience or an attribute apart from Him, we seek Him Himself, and when He dwells richly in us, darkness must flee.

The Scripture makes this clear when it says, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. The fleeing of the devil does not happen because of a power we possess in ourselves, but because we are submitted to God and clothed in Christ. Likewise we are reminded, You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4. What you sensed in your friend was likely the greater One living within him, his faith, his purity, his love, his holiness and his close walk with the Lord.

We want to gently encourage you not to make an idol of what you felt in your friend, but to fix your eyes directly on Jesus, who is the source of all holiness and power. That same presence is available to you not by impartation from another person, but by abiding in Christ daily through prayer, through feeding on the Word, through obedience and through walking in the Spirit. As we are transformed we read, But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18. God desires to make you more like Christ, and that likeness is what the enemy cannot stand against. We also put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11.

We rejoice that you prayed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved and have authority over the enemy. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6.

So together we pray for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We lift up this dear one to You and we thank You for the hunger You have placed in his heart for holiness and for Your presence. Lord, we ask that You fill him anew with Your Holy Spirit and that You establish Christ deeply and permanently within him. Grant him a life fully submitted to You, cleansed by the blood of Jesus, rooted in Your Word and bearing the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23. Make his life an abiding place for Your presence, so that when the evil one draws near he must flee, not because of any power in this dear one himself, but because greater is He who is in him. Teach him to abide in You daily, to resist the devil by standing firm in faith and obedience, and to walk in the light as You are in the light. Transform him from glory to glory into the image of Your Son according to Your sovereign will. We ask that You make this work deep, lasting and inseparable, for Your glory alone. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord Himself above any feeling or attribute. Remain in prayer, remain in the Scriptures, walk in repentance and obedience, and fellowship with other believers who will spur you on toward love and good works. As you draw near to God, He will draw near to you, and the enemy will have no place. James 4:8.

We hear the deep longing in your prayer, wanting to know that same quiet strength you sensed in your friend, that sense that evil cannot stay. It makes sense you would want that to be settled and permanent in your own life.

What you describe sounds less like a quality that can be passed from one person to another, and more like the presence of Christ taking shape in someone over time. In our own walk we have seen that this kind of steadiness is not usually given in a single moment, but grown as we stay close to Jesus day by day.

If it would help, a simple next step is to keep a steady, small rhythm of walking with Him, time in prayer, reading Scripture, and fellowship with other believers who know you, and to share this longing with a trusted pastor who can pray with you personally and help you discern what God is forming in you. That ongoing companionship often does more than seeking an experience alone.

Father, we bring our brother before You and thank You for his hunger for Your nearness. We ask You to draw close to him, guard him from the enemy, fill him with Your peace and make him firm in Christ according to Your sovereign will. Teach him to abide in Jesus and to rest in Your protection each day. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

Your longing that Satan should flee from you is itself a gracious work, for the soul that has tasted deliverance desires to walk at liberty through the power of the great Liberator, the Lord Jesus. I hear your prayer that God would bestow upon you what you have perceived in another, a certain quality by which the enemy is made to depart, and to make it a permanent and inseparable part of your being.

Let me gently set your hope upon the true ground, lest you seek in a hidden quality what God has provided only in a Person. Scripture does not teach us that the devil flees because of some mystical attribute resident in us, as though we could possess in ourselves a power to repel him. The victory by which Satan is overthrown belongs to Christ alone. The Seed of the woman has bruised the serpent's head, and as the result of Christ's death Satan's power is broken. We are ransomed from the galling yoke not by any virtue of our own, but through the conquest achieved by the Lord Jesus Christ. When He shall ask, Father, give them power and victory, it must be done, and every member of His mystical body shares virtually in the conquering Head.

The apostle gives us the plain way in which that victory becomes ours day by day, Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. It is not by an inherent charm abiding in our nature, but by humble submission to God, by faith in the blood of the Lamb, by the Word of God dwelling in us, and by fellowship with Jesus wrought in us by the Spirit, that we are enabled to stand. When the devil comes with his fiery darts, saying your God has forsaken you, we are to tell him to begone, not in our own strength, but in the name and merit of Christ who has already triumphed.

Therefore my prayer for you shall not be that a nameless quality might be infused into your nature to remain there apart from Christ, but that you may be more fully clothed with Christ Himself, and kept in continual dependence upon Him. For the arch enemy has been conquered by Man, and by God working in us we too shall bruise Satan under our feet shortly.

Let us pray together.

O Sovereign Lord, who has given the victory to Thy Son and who will not let Him enjoy it alone but will glorify His people therein, look upon this soul who desires to be delivered from the power and assaults of Satan. Grant not according to a vague longing, but according to Thy perfect wisdom and sovereign will. Establish this one in Christ, rooted and grounded in His finished work. Fill him with Thy Holy Spirit, that every form of fellowship with Jesus may be in him a well of salvation. Teach him to submit himself wholly unto Thee, to put on the whole armour of God, to stand by faith, to wield the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, and so to resist the devil that he must flee. Keep him from seeking power in himself, and cause him to rest in Him who was caught up unto God and to His throne and who ever lives to intercede. Make him watchful, humble, prayerful, and joyful in praise, for Thou hast taught us to sing psalms and spite the devil. Let the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony be his confidence, and let the greater One who dwells in him be his constant defence. All this we ask not as a claim upon a mystical endowment, but as the fruit of union with Christ, to whom be boundless honors forever for His victory over every force of evil. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
