Your honesty in sharing this burden is deeply appreciated, and your desire to see your marriage healed and preserved is right before the Lord. God designed marriage so that two become one flesh, a profound unity where two lives are joined together as one. That oneness reflects something of His own nature as one God who is a compound unity, and it is why His intention for marriage is that it be a lifelong covenant. To pray that years from now you both can look back with thankfulness that neither chose divorce is to pray in line with His heart for marriage, and we join you in that prayer.
We also hear your heart for forgiveness and for your spouse to see the best in you again, and your willingness to get help to turn away from looking at things you should not. That step toward purity is important and we encourage you to stay with it, inviting accountability and walking in openness before God.
As we pray for you, we want to pray beyond just the painful symptoms in the marriage and go to the root. The deepest need any of us has is to be forgiven of our sin before God. When we sin, even when we hurt people we love, our sin is ultimately against God Himself because He is the one who has given His commands for our good, including His commands about purity and faithfulness in marriage. For that reason, while seeking forgiveness and rebuilding trust with your spouse is vital, the first and most necessary forgiveness must be sought from God Himself. No person can grant you forgiveness before God, you must ask Him for it directly.
The good news is that God has made provision for that forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone. There is no other way for sin to be atoned for. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made the way for you to be fully forgiven and cleansed if you put your trust in Him. To reject that provision is the only sin that cannot be forgiven, but to receive Jesus as your Savior is to receive complete forgiveness both now and forever. If you have not already done so, turn to Him in humble confession, agree with God about your sin, and trust in Jesus alone to save you. From that place of being forgiven by God, you will find the grace and power to walk in repentance, to love your spouse well, and to pursue purity day by day.
We are praying for you in this way, that God would grant you deep repentance and assurance of His forgiveness through Christ, that He would bring healing and renewed trust in your marriage as you both walk in honesty and grace, that He would help you to continue to turn from all that harms your soul and your covenant, and that He would strengthen you to keep your vows as one flesh together.
We also bring your financial burden and need for work before the Lord. We ask that He would open the right door for employment in His timing and wisdom, and that He would give you wisdom and discipline to steward what He provides and to be freed from the debt you have incurred.
May the Lord draw you close to Himself, wash you in His mercy through Jesus, and restore and guard your marriage for His glory.
