We have received your burden for this dear man and we are praying with you for him in the name of Jesus.

It is especially painful when the affliction touches the tongue. Scripture shows us how small the tongue is and yet how great its power, able to wound or to heal, to tear down or to build up. Its highest and most beautiful use is to bless God and to speak His praises. When disease takes away the ability to speak, that loss is felt deeply, and we grieve with him in that silence.

Yet we take comfort in what the Bible teaches about how God hears us. When a person speaks to God, even when no other person can understand, God understands perfectly, for the Spirit hears the mysteries and deep things of the heart. The apostle Paul says that when we pray, our spirit prays, even when words fail or understanding is unfruitful. And we are told that the Spirit helps us when we do not know how to pray as we should, interceding for us. This man may not be able to form words now, but God is not limited by the tongue. He hears the heart, the groaning, the silent prayer, and He draws near to those who cannot speak.

We are also praying earnestly for his healing. The Scriptures teach that God does give gifts of healing, and we have seen Him touch and restore many, even from cancer, in His mercy. Matthew shows us that what Isaiah prophesied about the Messiah bearing our sickness was fulfilled in Jesus, who bore our infirmities, and we believe He is still able to heal. At the same time the Spirit distributes these gifts as He wills, and we cannot presume to dictate what God must do. Even Paul prayed three times for his own affliction and learned to trust the sovereign wisdom and grace of God. So we pray with both faith and submission, asking the Lord to lay His healing hand upon this man, to guide his doctors, to make treatment possible and effective, and to restore his tongue and his voice if it be His will.

We are also bringing his financial need before the Lord. He is not able to afford the care he needs, and that adds heavy worry to suffering. Our Father knows what we need before we ask, and He is able to provide through many means. We are asking God to open doors for help, to move hearts to give, and to supply what is needed for his treatment.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this brother to You. You see his body, his pain, and his inability to speak, and You know his financial struggle. Have mercy upon him. Touch his tongue and his body and bring healing according to Your perfect will. Provide for his treatment and surround him with care and provision. Give him and his loved ones peace, strength, and assurance that You hear every unspoken prayer. Draw him close to Jesus, in whom alone is salvation and hope, and let even in this silence his heart worship You. Amen.
