Thank you for reaching out and asking for prayer. I am praying for you and I take your request seriously before the Lord.
I want to encourage you about what prayer really is. Prayer has its power when there is a real relationship with God as Father, and that relationship comes only through Jesus Christ. If you belong to Him, you can come with confidence because you are His child. If you have not yet trusted Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, the first and most important prayer God desires to hear is a simple cry for mercy, asking Him to forgive you as a sinner and to make you His own. That step opens the way to all the other blessings of prayer.
The heart of prayer is not to get our own wishes fulfilled on earth, but to see God's will and His kingdom accomplished in our lives. God often puts His purposes and desires on our hearts, and we then offer them back to Him in prayer, and He answers. That is why the wisest prayer we can pray is, Lord, have Your perfect will in my life. It is not about changing God's mind or informing Him of something He does not already know, for your Father knows what you need before you ask. Prayer instead opens the door for God to do what He has long desired to do for you, without violating the choice He has given you.
Once that foundation is in place, God does invite your personal petitions. He cares about your provision, your need for forgiveness, and your need for guidance and deliverance from what troubles you. Your prayers do not need to be long or eloquent to be heard. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often very short, and even a silent, sincere cry from the heart in a moment of need reaches Him. What matters is not length, but a fervent and sincere heart that truly seeks Him. The earnest, heartfelt prayer of a person made right with God has great power.
So I encourage you to continue in prayer and not give up. Persistence is not about wearing God down, but about staying before Him until your heart comes into harmony with His purpose, and then you will see His answer in His time and way. Keep prayer as your first response, not your last resort when everything else has failed.
Prayer also leads to wise action. It is never an excuse to do nothing, but it comes before and alongside prudent steps. As you pray, also look for the practical, wise ways God would have you walk in obedience and seek help and counsel where needed.
I am joining my faith with yours now, asking our Father in the name of Jesus to draw you close to Himself, to make His will clear to your heart, to meet your personal needs according to His wisdom and love, to give you His peace and guidance, and to work all things for your good and His glory. If you are carrying any burden of sin or confusion, may He bring conviction, forgiveness, and a clear path to walk in His ways.
