When you ask for his healing and protection, you are knocking at the door of the great Physician. Remember how Christ touched Peter’s mother-in-law and not only quenched the fever but gave her back perfect health all at once, needing no time for recovery. So too can He restore the mind completely, far beyond what any human effort can achieve. Do not judge by outward appearances or by the slow progress you may see. He who made a whole man healthy on the Sabbath can raise up one who seems wholly undone.

Continue in prayer with earnest attention, as if listening to a voice from heaven which is plainer than thunder and carries the grace of God. And even if healing seems delayed, do not despair. A tree that receives many blows may not fall until a final stroke, but it was the many blows that prepared it. Your persistent prayers and the hearing of God’s word will not be in vain. In the meantime, set him forward in peace, without fear or contention, for what God does is healing, not despite. He is the giver of every good gift, dividing to each as He wills for our profit. Trust that He who began this work will bring it to completion.

I’m joining you in prayer for this man’s mental health, his healing, and the strength he needs for every challenge ahead. There is a deep connection between our inner world and our physical well-being, and the Lord cares about both. John the apostle once wrote to a friend and expressed his heartfelt wish, that his friend’s bodily health would match the prosperity of his soul. That wasn’t a mechanical promise, but a warm, godly desire. It’s the same kind of prayer I’m offering now: that this man’s mind would find the same wholeness that Christ wants to work in his spirit.

One of the most important keys to mental health is a forgiving heart. When we hold onto bitterness or resentment, it acts like a corrosive within us, doing far more damage to our own minds than to the one we resent. I don’t know what wounds he may carry or what people he might need to release, but I pray that God would give him the grace to let go. Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending wrongs never happened; it means handing them over to the only righteous Judge, so that the poison stops spreading inside.

At the same time, we don’t just stay on our knees and wait. There are moments when the Lord says, “Get moving.” Pray, yes, but also take practical steps. Just as God gave Israel health-preserving instructions and wisdom about how to live, he often brings healing through wise choices, good counsel, and daily discipline. I pray this man would be guided to the right sources of help and would find the courage to walk forward, even when the way ahead looks as impassable as the Red Sea. God can make a path where there seems to be none.

Remember the one leper out of ten who, after being healed, returned to Jesus with thanksgiving. He received more than physical restoration; he was made truly whole. Gratitude has a way of completing the work that healing starts. I pray that even in this painful season, this man would be able to lift his eyes and thank God for every small sign of goodness, because thankfulness shifts something deep inside us and opens the door to wholeness.

I won’t pretend to know all the reasons mental anguish lingers. The psalmist himself was nearly undone when he looked at the prosperity of the wicked and the suffering of the righteous. He only found peace when he entered into God’s presence and saw things from an eternal perspective. The truth we can cling to, no matter what the feelings scream at us, is that God is good. That goodness doesn’t flicker with our circumstances. Even when we can’t understand, we can trust the One who knows us completely and loves us beyond measure.

May this man experience that goodness in his mind, his emotions, and his body. May every battle he faces be met with divine protection, and may he move forward into healing and peace, not because he has a faultless promise on a card, but because he has a living Savior who walks with him through every valley.
