We are grieved to hear about the struggle with alcohol and the resulting depression. We commend you for bringing this matter to us in Jesus' name, for there is power in the name of Jesus. Let us address this situation with prayer and biblical guidance.
Firstly, we are reminded of the words in Ephesians 5:18, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." Alcohol consumption, especially when it leads to depression, is not part of God's plan for a healthy and fulfilling life. Instead, we are called to be filled with the Holy Spirit, who brings life, joy, and peace.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up our beloved ### in prayer. Lord, we ask for Your intervention in their life as they struggle with alcohol and depression. Help them to see that true joy and peace can only be found in You.
Father, we ask that You grant ### the strength to overcome this battle. Give them the courage to seek help and to turn away from the things that are causing them harm. Surround them with Your love and with people who will support and encourage them in this journey.
Lord, we also pray for their emotional well-being. Comfort them in their depression, and remind them of Your unfailing love and faithfulness. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue supporting ### in prayer and in practical ways. Remind them of God's love and the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. If possible, encourage them to seek professional help and to surround themselves with a supportive community of believers.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved." Trust in Jesus and encourage ### to do the same.
