We join you in lifting up your students and your classroom before the Lord, for we know how heavy it can feel to shepherd young hearts who are defiant and disengaged. We hear your desire not just for better behavior, but for true joy and growth and a love for learning to take root in them, and we count it a privilege to seek God's will together with you in Jesus' name.
Scripture reminds us that a complaining and defiant spirit does not please the Lord, yet it also shows us that the heart of a child can be shaped by love and truth. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right, Ephesians 6:1, and Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it, Proverbs 22:6. We are also taught Do all things without complaining and arguing, Philippians 2:14, and Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, Colossians 3:23. Learning itself is a gift from God, and when joy is missing we can ask Him to restore it, for Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice, Philippians 4:4. For you as their teacher, we are reminded If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5, and Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we do not give up, Galatians 6:9.
We encourage you to continue to model patience and grace while holding firm and loving boundaries, to pray for discernment to see what may be behind their boredom and dislike for school, and to invite God to make your classroom a place where joy and curiosity can grow. Even when change feels slow, your faithful sowing matters to the Lord.
We also gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name, for whoever confesses with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in the heart that God raised Him from the dead will be saved, Romans 10:9.

It is a good and burdened prayer you have brought before the Lord, and we will bring it with you to the mercy seat.
To have a class that is defiant, that counts learning as boring, that complains and has no heart for the school, is a heavy trial for any teacher. It wearies the spirit and it tries patience, for you labor and seem to reap little. Yet the Lord sees both you and those young ones committed to your care, and He is able to turn murmuring into music and dullness into delight.
We have been reminded that true joy is not mere mirth which soon grows dull, but the fruit of the Spirit from the root of trust in God. It is joy in the Lord, which is the cure for all discord, the concord of the soul with the joy of Heaven. This is the joy we ask for your students, not a shallow excitement that passes with the hour, but a deep and living joy which makes the heart willing to learn, to listen, and to do what is right. When the heart is made glad in God, the hands become active and the behavior is reformed from within.
There is also a joy like the joy in harvest. The farmer expects a harvest and he respects the former toil that goes before it. So we would have you expect good from your labor, and continue to plough and sow in hope. The harvest joy is joy such as God gives, and it is also the joy of answered prayer. We will pray that He who gives the increase will give it in your classroom.
Let us pray together.
O Father, gracious and faithful, we thank You that You are our exceeding joy, and that when we have nothing else we may still joy in You, in Your power to help us, in Your faithfulness which cannot fail us, and in Your unchanging love. We bring before You this teacher and this class. Look upon these students who are defiant and discontented, who find no pleasure in learning and no desire for the place where You have set them to be taught. By Your Spirit, soften what is hard, awaken what is dull, and turn complaining into thankfulness.
Grant to them, Lord, a new heart to love what is good and true. Give them joy that overflows into active participation, growth in knowledge and character, and behaviors that honor You and bless those around them. Let this classroom know that quiet exhilaration which comes from a mind engaged and a conscience at peace.
And for this teacher, grant daily strength, wisdom beyond their own, and patience that does not faint. Baptize their thoughts in Your joy, that they may teach not in weariness but in the strength of joy in the Lord. Keep them sowing faithfully, looking for the harvest with expectation, and grant them to see fruit in due season, that they may joy before You as those that joy in harvest.

We join you in prayer for your classroom and for each of your students.
We ask the Lord to fill their hearts with true joy and gladness, not the fleeting joy of this world, but the joy that comes from above, the joy of the Holy Spirit. Even when learning feels hard and affliction presses, we pray that the Spirit would refresh them as dew in the furnace, so that they may find delight in what is good and holy. For the early years of life are often full of folly and restlessness, and we pray that God would lead them through it into growth and understanding.
We pray also that whatever correction and discipline is needed would be profitable for them, that it would cast out sloth and complaining and help their souls, drawing down the grace of the Spirit upon them. May they come to lightly esteem mere boredom and complaint, and instead actively participate with willing hearts.
We ask that God, who is Himself the fountain and root of all good and who remains full even as He pours out His gifts to all, would give to each student a share from His fullness. Though what we receive is only by participation, a small portion of His abundance, He gives generously and remains undiminished. May He produce in them the fruit of holiness, recovering and perfecting what is weak, so that their growth would bring joy in heaven and on earth.
We pray for you as their teacher, that God would give you patience, wisdom, and strength, and that your labor would bear much fruit as you guide them faithfully.

Help them to find purpose in learning and to experience the joy that comes from doing what is right out of a willing heart.
We pray also for their teacher. Fill this teacher with Your love, with patience, wisdom, and strength. Guard this teacher from discouragement and from serving merely out of duty or for recognition. Let the love of Christ be the motive and the strength each day, so that what is taught and modeled is not fleshly pressure but genuine love that lifts these students higher.
