Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing honestly about the pain and constant arguing in your marriage. God sees what you are going through and He cares deeply about your marriage, because marriage was His idea from the beginning.
Scripture teaches that in marriage two become one flesh. It is a compound unity, two persons becoming one, which reflects something of the very nature of God who is one. That oneness is not just living under the same roof, it is a spiritual joining that God Himself creates. When arguing becomes nonstop, that oneness is strained and both of you feel torn apart. God's desire is to heal and restore that unity, and He is able to do it as you both turn toward Him together.
I understand why being told that witchcraft has been put on you would leave you feeling afraid and helpless. The Bible does not teach us to live in fear of curses or spells. It teaches that our deliverance comes through the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Just as God delivered His people from bondage in Egypt through the sacrifice of the lamb, He has delivered His people from the bondage of sin and darkness through Jesus Christ. If you belong to Jesus, you are under His covering and protection. No power of darkness is greater than the power of His blood. The safest place to stand is not in trying to find out more about the witchcraft or fighting it in your own strength, but in resting in what Jesus has already done, confessing any sin, forgiving one another, and asking Him to be Lord over your home. Greater is He that is in you than any power in this world.
Part of the struggle you are feeling in your constant conflict is also the inner warfare that the Bible talks about between the flesh and the Spirit. Our flesh wants to react, to defend ourselves, to speak harshly, while the Spirit wants to bring patience, gentleness and self control. One way God helps us quiet the flesh so we can hear the Spirit more clearly is through prayer and fasting. Fasting is not a way to earn God's favor, but a way to humble ourselves, to set aside the demands of the body for a time, and to seek God with greater focus. As you pray together and individually, consider setting aside time to fast and pray for your marriage, asking God to soften hearts, to help you listen to one another, and to give you His love for each other.
I will pray for you both now. Father, I lift this marriage to You. Thank You that You joined this husband and wife together to be one. I ask that You bring healing where there has been hurt, and peace where there has been constant arguing. Forgive sin, wash both hearts through the blood of the Lamb, and break every chain of darkness and fear. Fill this home with Your presence and let no weapon formed against it stand. Teach them to walk by Your Spirit and not by the flesh, to speak with kindness and to forgive as You have forgiven. Restore their unity and draw them closer to You and to each other. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Keep seeking Jesus together. Read His word together, pray together daily even if only for a few minutes, and be quick to forgive. If the arguing continues, seek wise, biblical counsel from a mature pastor who can walk with you both in person. God is faithful to restore what is surrendered to Him.
