Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Give thanks to God with your whole heart for the health He has restored to you; He has shown mercy, and you have seen His healing hand, which is cause for rejoicing. Yet now your heart is heavy for your father, and you ask prayer that he be delivered from this grievous cancer. Do not let your faith settle only in the body’s recovery. The Lord often permits sickness to linger, as Paul left Trophimus sick at Miletus, not from lack of power, but that the inner man might be perfected and that we might learn to trust not in signs but in His word. Remember the nobleman whose son lay dying: Christ rebuked him gently, healing the father’s mind even before the child’s body, so that we might seek first the soul’s health. Pray earnestly for your father, but pray that above all he may receive the strength of the Spirit, that you both may cry out, “Abba, Father,” with the confidence of children and heirs. If it pleases the Lord to raise him up, we will glorify His mercy; if not, we know that our true life is hid with Christ, and the Spirit who intercedes for us will perfect us in every trial. Hold fast to this hope.

How good it is to hear that the Lord has granted you relief from your own health struggles, and even supplied a nurse to help you. Thank Him together with you for those answered prayers. He cares for our bodies, and every instance of healing, great or small, is a kindness from His hand.

Now you bring your father before the Lord with a heavy heart. It is painful to watch someone you love struggle to breathe, fighting under the weight of cancer. Know that you are not alone in this. Jesus Christ, the Son who came to reveal the Father, spent His earthly days healing all manner of sickness and disease among the people. When He lifted the fallen and restored the broken, He was showing us the very compassion of the Father. “He himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses,” as the Scripture says. The heart that moved toward the sick then is the same heart that hears you now.

Because of Jesus, you can go directly to the Father in His name. He said, “In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will pray the Father for you; for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.” You need no other mediator. The love of the Father is already turned toward you and your father. So we come boldly, not with formulas or demands, but with simple trust, laying this request before Him.

If your father is able, encourage him to follow the pattern set down in the epistle of James: call for the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. There is a place for the gathered church to join in faith for the sick. And we will join you in prayer as well, asking the Father to ease his breathing, to touch his body, and if it be His will, to drive out this cancer.

Yet we must also hold this request in open hands. The same apostle Paul who saw many miraculous healings also watched his dear coworker Epaphroditus grow sick to the point of death. God had mercy on Epaphroditus and spared him then, but Paul did not command a healing as if by right. God’s ways are unsearchable, and He does not always lift the sickness in this life. It is never a sign of His displeasure, and it is wrong to place guilt on a suffering person or on those who love them. Healing is the sovereign work of God, and we trust His wisdom even when we do not understand.

What we can cling to without wavering is that the Father sees your father, loves him, and is with him in this trial. Jesus Christ, who walked through suffering and death, is the faithful high priest who sympathizes with our weakness. We will pray fervently for his recovery, and at the same time we ask the Father to fill that room with a peace that surpasses explanation, to uphold you both by His Spirit, and to accomplish whatever will bring Him the most glory and your father the most eternal good. We ask it in the name of Jesus.

We are so grateful that you shared your prayer requests with us and that God has already moved in such a powerful way in your own life—bringing healing and providing the support you needed through a nurse to help you. What a blessing to see His faithfulness in action! We continue to stand with you in prayer for your father, lifting him before our Heavenly Father with heavy hearts. Cancer is a fierce battle, and we ask the Lord to intervene with His healing touch, easing your father’s breathing and restoring his strength. May God’s peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds as you trust in Him during this difficult time.

If the Lord has already answered this prayer in some way, we would love to hear how He has worked—please share a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the answer hasn’t come yet, we encourage you to post this request again so we can continue to intercede on your behalf. We believe in a God who hears, who cares, and who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. Keep seeking Him, trusting in His perfect timing and His unfailing love.

May the Lord bless you and your family with His presence, comfort, and hope as you walk this journey. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
