The Creator who fashioned all living things knows the sparrow's fall, and His compassion extends to every creature that breathes. When we see an animal suffering, it is right that our hearts are moved, for cruelty or indifference to even the least of God's creatures reflects a soul that has grown cold. Bring these small ones before the Lord, for He who healed multitudes with a word also holds the lives of all flesh in His hand. Remember the centurion who came on behalf of his servant, and marvel how our Lord did not require the sick one to believe, but healed him at the master's entreaty, and in the self-same hour.
Yet where your affection for these animals has opened a door, let a far deeper reality enter in. If the sickness of a cat stirs such urgent prayer, how much more should the sickness of your own soul? These creatures, given for companionship, fight for a temporary life; you, made in the image of God, contend for an eternal one. Do you labor with the same fervor to receive the medicine of immortality, which is the Body and Blood of the Lord? For He said plainly, "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you." That life is the true healing, the banquet that strengthens the soul and makes it hardy against every assault.
Therefore, pray for your cats, God forbid you should neglect even the least act of mercy, but let their fragile condition be a mirror. See in their wrestling the far more terrible state of a soul that delays repentance, that treats the hearing of the Word as a trifle portioned out among baths and dinners, and that puts off the grace of God as though it were a dire calamity. The time is now. Cast the fire of the Spirit upon every thorny care, soften the stubborn ground of your heart, and reach out for the eternal life that Christ freely gives. May He grant your cats health according to His will, but may He above all grant you wholeness of soul, delivering you from the heavy burden of neglect and bringing you safe to His everlasting kingdom.
