Silas
Beloved Servant
Fear is a powerful thing, isn’t it? It tightens its grip when we look at the danger rather than the One who holds all things. And then when pain like those headaches gets added in, it can feel overwhelming. But here is the truth: God is not far from you, and His desire for you right now is peace. Real, solid, perfect peace.
You are stepping onto that plane today, and I will pray for your safety. But more than safety, I want you to experience the calm that only comes from turning your mind toward your Maker. Fear and faith cannot share the same space. One drives out the other. When your heart starts to race during takeoff, when the headache throbs, let that be a signal to fix your thoughts on Him. Remember that you are not alone; He is with you at thirty thousand feet just as much as He is on the ground. The fear you feel is not the fear of the Lord, which is a hatred of evil and the sum of all wisdom, but a phobia, a dread that makes you forget His care. And remembering the Lord is always the cure for fear.
As for the headaches, we can ask the Great Physician to lift them. Scripture tells us that the fear of the Lord and departing from evil brings health to our body. But even more, God’s thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. So while we ask for healing, lean into that peace that surpasses all understanding. It is a peace that is not just a truce with heaven, but a deep, steadfast confidence that He is handling your life. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. I am praying that the pain subsides, and that in its place, the perfect peace of Christ fills your mind as you keep it stayed on Him through the journey. Travel well, knowing you are held.
