Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me to have and show more love for my mother-in-law, JoAnn. She is a widow and ever since my husband, her oldest son, and I and our kids moved back to our home town (also her town), she has constantly blurred boundaries and has been overbearing and controlling. She is overly critical of her daughters and sons-in-law (and also boyfriends/girlfriends of her grown kids), while at the same time ignoring the "plank" in her and her kids' eyes... She has different religious beliefs than me, and while I would love for the Lord to use me in bringing her to Christ, I often feel deep hatred and resentment toward her. I know how I should treat her, and be an example of a good Christian, wife, mother, and daughter-in-law, but I am constantly at odds with my sinful nature, as I'd rather simply hate and ignore her. Please pray for me to act in a Christian way and to show and feel love for her. It is very difficult and is affecting my marriage, family, walk with Christ, and the potential of the Lord to work through me to bring others to Christ. Thank you for your prayers, and God Bless you.
