Please pray for default divorce

The cry of your heart leaps out clearly: you are facing a legal severing that you did not choose, and you feel exposed, as if an enemy might regroup and catch you by surprise. That fear is real, and the Word of the Lord for you today is the same one that came to Abram after his battle: Fear not. I am your shield. You do not have to worry whether or not you have your shield, because the Lord Himself steps into that place. His truth is what deflects the arrows of accusation, slander, or lingering dread. When you make the Most High your dwelling place, your life is hid with Christ in God, and no panic by night nor assault by day can separate you from that protection.

It is a grievous thing when a marriage covenant shatters. The divine ideal from the beginning was one man and one woman cleaving together for life, a union meant for completion and safety. Yet the Scriptures also acknowledge the hardness of human hearts. When a spouse finds some uncleanness that breaks the bond, when living together becomes a daily destruction, the law made a provision, not as the best, but as an accommodation for a world that refuses to rise to God’s perfect design. Jesus was challenged on this very issue by minds that wanted to trap Him, and He pointed them back to creation while still recognizing that Moses allowed the writing of divorce. Failure to reach that high ideal is not the unpardonable sin, though it leaves deep wounds.

You are praying for God’s will, and that is the posture of the pure in heart. A person who genuinely seeks righteousness often makes those around them uncomfortable; you may find yourself unfairly blamed or taken advantage of simply for refusing to play the world’s games. When the other side acts with contempt, calling you worthless in their heart or firing off hollow words to get even, remember what Jesus taught about being a person of your word. You do not need to swear oaths to convince anyone of your integrity. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Stand on the truth quietly, and let God handle the false accusations. He does not accept an accusation against His own without two or three witnesses; He sees the motives behind every charge laid at your feet.

Do not let this desolation convince you that love itself has failed. You believe in love because God is love, and His love remains the exceeding great reward on the other side of this trial. He wants to be everything you need right now, your protector and your provider. The legal process may be progressing, but it is the Lord who walks with you through the narrowing gate, past the main walls that seem to shut you out. Keep your eyes on Him, not on the one who is bent on harm. The judgment that hangs over a hardened heart cannot touch you while He shelters you. Rise from this still dwelling in that secret place, thankful that He has guarded your life and will continue to do so.
