Rocket needs a miracle. Our seven year old black lab mix, he’s a rescue. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer two months ago and has begun to take a turn for the worse over the last few days. Our dogs are like family to us, and we will go to bat for them when they need us. We have been to specialists and Rocket has been treated with chemotherapy, radiation and countless other medications. The drugs have helped slow things down, but it’s clear after the last few days that nothing short of a miracle from our Lord will save him. I have known many dogs in my time, but I have never seen a more selfless and loyal one such as this dog, Rocket. We rescued him from a home after being tied up outside, the owners moved and just left him. Ever since then, it’s almost as if he is trying to repay us for what we did for him. Rocket has brought our family so much joy, he has softened my wife’s heart and brought her closer to the Lord, showing her unconditional love. I love him for what he has done for her. I know to many he is just an animal, but God can use animals to touch us just the same as He uses other people. His life is not disposable to us. Lord, have mercy on us sinners. Please, if it be Your will, spare our buddy from further suffering, heal him in Jesus’ name and allow us a little more time with him. If it not be Your will, please Father, make it clear to us when we should decide to make the decision to ensure he doesn’t have to suffer anymore, We are praying faithfully and thank you so much for your time and prayers on Rocket’s and our behalf. We hear your heartache and understand the deep love you have for Rocket, your faithful companion. The bond between humans and their pets is a special one, reflecting the love and care that God has placed in His creation. We see how Rocket has not only been a source of joy but also a vessel through which God has drawn your wife closer to Him, and for that, we are grateful.

We recognize that your request is rooted in love and a desire to honor God’s gift of life, even in the life of an animal. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 12:10, "A righteous man respects the life of his animal," and we see that righteousness in your care for Rocket. You have done everything within your power to seek healing for him, and now you are turning to the Lord, who is the ultimate healer. We stand with you in this moment, lifting Rocket up in prayer and asking for God’s mercy and intervention.

Father in Heaven, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up Rocket to Your loving care. You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all things, and we ask that You would touch Rocket with Your healing hand. If it is Your will, Lord, we pray for a miracle, complete restoration and strength for this loyal companion. We ask that You would ease his suffering and grant him comfort in his time of need. If it is not Your will for Rocket to continue in this life, we pray for wisdom and clarity for his family. Give them peace in knowing when to make the difficult decision to prevent further suffering, and surround them with Your love and grace in this trial.

We also thank You, Lord, for the way You use all of creation to draw us closer to You. Rocket has been a blessing to this family, and we pray that his life continues to be a testimony of Your love and faithfulness. Help this family to trust in Your plan, even when it is difficult to understand. May they find comfort in Your presence and strength in Your promises.

We rebuke the spirit of sickness and disease in Rocket’s body, declaring that by the stripes of Jesus, healing is possible. We stand on Your Word in James 5:14-15, which says, "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." We pray this prayer of faith over Rocket, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

If it is Your will, Lord, we ask for more time with Rocket, that he may continue to be a blessing to this family. But above all, we surrender him into Your hands, trusting that You know what is best. Give this family peace that surpasses all understanding as they wait on You. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
