Humble Prayer Warrior
My mother suffered a thrombotic stroke at the end of January last year, which left the left side of her body paralyzed. In November of the same year, she was diagnosed with stage IV nasopharyngeal cancer. Since April 22, she has been under home hospice care. She is now suffering from pneumonia and delirium. She speaks continuously in an unconscious state, and over the past few days, she has developed severe coughing with excessive phlegm, requiring very frequent suctioning that greatly affects her ability to rest and sleep. For more than a year, most of her care has fallen on my sister alone. Since I am married and live in a distant city, I am unable to help regularly. My brother, who is unemployed and struggles with colon cancer and depression, occasionally helps care for our mother, but his emotional condition is unstable, and he is often unable to handle responsibilities reliably. Under these circumstances, my sister is carrying an overwhelming burden and tremendous stress. The day before yesterday was my mother’s birthday, and it broke our hearts to see her spending it in such suffering and pain. We humbly ask for your prayers that Jesus would mercifully heal my mother’s pneumonia and delirium as soon as possible, and that her gastrostomy procedure on June 3 would go smoothly and safely. We also pray that God would touch and choose my brother to be baptized soon, so that my mother may have peace in her heart. Please also pray that God would grant my brother and sister enough love, patience, strength, and endurance to continue caring for my mother during this difficult season. Thank you so much for your prayers!

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious mother and your entire family in this time of profound trial. The weight of suffering you carry is immense—physical pain, emotional exhaustion, and the deep longing for relief and peace. We stand with you in faith, trusting that our Heavenly Father sees every tear, hears every cry, and holds your mother in His tender care.

Father God, we ask You to stretch forth Your healing hand over this dear mother. You are the Great Physician, the One who formed her in her mother’s womb and knows every fiber of her being. We plead for mercy upon her body, Lord. Touch her lungs, clear the pneumonia, and ease the delirium that grips her mind. Bring rest to her weary frame, that the coughing and distress would cease, and that she may sleep without torment. We pray for the gastrostomy procedure on June 3—that You would guide the hands of the medical team, steady her body, and grant a smooth and safe outcome. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We also lift up her children—your sister, who has borne the weight of care with such love and sacrifice, and your brother, who battles his own storms of illness and despair. Lord, You see the exhaustion in their spirits and the heaviness they carry. Strengthen them, Father. Pour out Your love upon them, that they may love one another with patience and kindness, even in the midst of weariness. Give them endurance to press on, and remind them that they are not alone—You are their ever-present help in trouble.

We are especially moved by the request for your brother’s baptism. Oh, Lord, we pray that You would draw him to Yourself with cords of love. Soften his heart, open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel, and let him experience the saving grace of Jesus Christ. May the thought of his baptism bring comfort to your mother’s heart, that she may rest in the hope of eternity with You. For it is written, *"Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household"* (Acts 16:31). There is no greater peace than knowing one’s soul is secure in Christ.

We must also acknowledge the reality of this moment. The pain of watching a loved one suffer is profound, and the weight of caregiving can feel unbearable. Yet we take comfort in knowing that You, Lord, are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We trust that even in this valley, You are working for good, drawing hearts closer to You and revealing Your strength in weakness.

Heavenly Father, we ask that You would surround this family with Your presence. Provide practical help where it is needed—whether through the hands of neighbors, friends, or Your people who can come alongside them. Remind them that their labor in love is not in vain, and that You see every act of service, every moment of sacrifice. Let them feel Your arms holding them up when they are too weak to stand.

Above all, we pray that Your will would be done. Whether in healing or in release from suffering, may Your perfect peace reign. If it is Your plan to call this dear mother home, prepare the hearts of her children to trust You in that moment, knowing that death is not the end for those who are in Christ. And if it is Your will to restore her, let it be for Your glory and the strengthening of faith in all who witness Your power.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who conquered sin and death, and who intercedes for us even now. May His peace, which the world cannot give, fill this home and guard every heart. Amen.

We're here, standing with you in this trying time. Our hearts ache for your mother, for the burden your sister carries, and for the struggles your brother faces. We're lifting them all up together.

Lord Jesus, we ask for your healing touch on your sister's body. Comfort her, ease her coughing, and grant her rest. We pray for your protection over her as she undergoes the gastrostomy procedure. We also ask for your grace to draw your brother to you, to soften his heart, and to reveal your truth to him. May his baptism bring comfort to your mother's heart and strengthen her faith.

We're also praying for your sister, Lord. Strengthen her, love, and give her patience and endurance. Remind her that she's not alone, that you are her ever-present help in trouble.

And for your mother, Jesus, we ask for your mercy. If it's your will to heal her, we trust that you know best. If it's your will to call her home, prepare our hearts to trust you in that moment, knowing that death is not the end for those in Christ.

We're here, praying with you, believing in your power and love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
