Please keep me in your prayers

“I am once again asking all of you for your prayers. I really don’t know what I should do. As I mentioned before, I have been praying for my ex to come back, but he has blocked me from everywhere and even told his friends not to contact me.

Right now, he is going through a very difficult phase—he has a lot of debts and health issues. Because of all that, he pushed me away. I kept telling him that we could fix everything together—that we could sort things out, get a job, and talk to his family. But he left me because he didn’t want my life to be affected.

Now he is using cigarettes and alcohol a lot, and he is going in the wrong direction. I feel really scared. Even though he is a Christian, he is doing all this. I’m not even able to tell him to change or guide him.

Please pray for him, that he comes back to Jesus. I am really worried.”

We hear your heartache and concern, and we join you in lifting this situation before the Lord. First, we must gently but firmly address the focus of your prayer request. While your love and care for your ex is evident, Scripture is clear that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). Even if he professes to be a Christian, his actions—turning to substances, pushing you away, and rejecting godly counsel—reveal a heart that is not surrendered to Christ at this time. Our prayers must first align with God’s will, not our own desires, even when those desires come from a place of love.

The Lord tells us in 1 John 5:14-15, "This is the confidence which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him." Praying for his return to you may not be God’s will, especially if this relationship was not built on a foundation of mutual faith and obedience to Christ. Instead, let us pray for *his* restoration to Jesus, for his deliverance from bondage, and for God’s perfect plan to unfold in his life—even if that means he is not part of your future.

We must also address the pattern of emotional dependence here. The Bible warns against chasing after those who have clearly rejected us (Proverbs 21:19, "It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman"). Your ex has made his boundaries clear, and repeatedly pursuing someone who has cut off contact can lead to further heartache and even enable sin. Instead, we encourage you to surrender this relationship fully to God. Psalm 37:5-6 reminds us, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go forth as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun."

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother who is struggling in sin and bondage. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of addiction and despair in his life. Soften his heart to Your voice and draw him back to You with repentance and faith. Surround him with godly influences—believers who will speak truth in love and hold him accountable. Protect him from the enemy’s lies and the consequences of his choices, and restore him to a right relationship with You.

Father, we also lift up this dear sister who is hurting and confused. Lord, we ask that You would heal her heart and give her the strength to release this relationship into Your hands. Help her to trust in Your goodness and sovereignty, knowing that You have a plan for her life that is far greater than she can imagine. Guard her from the temptation to chase after what is not Yours for her, and fill her with Your peace and hope. Lead her to a season of growth, where she can focus on her relationship with You and prepare for the godly marriage You may have in store for her.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and rebellion in this brother’s life, and we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray for his family and friends, that they would have wisdom and courage to intervene with love and truth. Above all, we ask that Your will be done in both of their lives, for Your glory and their ultimate good. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to shift your focus from this relationship to your own walk with Christ. Spend time in prayer and Scripture, seeking God’s will for your future. If you are not already connected to a local church, we urge you to find one where you can grow in faith and community. God may be using this season to prepare you for something new—a marriage that honors Him, built on mutual love for Christ and commitment to His Word.

Remember, Jesus is the only one who can truly satisfy the longings of your heart. As Psalm 73:25-26 says, "Whom do I have in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Trust in Him, and He will guide your steps.

Dear friend, we're here with you, feeling your pain and worry. It's tough seeing someone we care about struggling and making choices that hurt them. But remember, God loves him even more than we do, and He's got a plan.

Let's pray for your ex, that God would soften his heart, open his eyes to the truth, and draw him back to Himself. Let's ask for God's protection over him, that he'd be shielded from harm and guided towards healing. And let's trust that God knows best, even when it's hard to understand.

For you, dear one, let's pray for peace and strength. It's okay to feel hurt and confused, but let's ask God to help you let go of what you can't control. Trust that God has a purpose in all this, and He's working it out for your good and His glory.

Let's keep lifting each other up in prayer, and remember, Jesus is always with us, loving and guiding us through every step. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us to stand with you in prayer during this deeply painful and uncertain time. It’s clear how much you care for your ex, even as you wrestle with the heartache of being shut out and the fear of watching him walk away from the life he once knew in Christ. We’ve been lifting him before the Lord daily, asking God to break through the walls he’s put up—not just the ones between the two of you, but the ones separating him from the peace and guidance only Jesus can provide.

We’ve prayed for his debts and health to become avenues for God’s provision rather than burdens that drive him deeper into isolation. We’ve asked the Holy Spirit to convict his heart gently but powerfully, drawing him away from the temporary relief of cigarettes and alcohol and back to the lasting hope found in his Savior. We’ve also prayed for you, that God would grant you wisdom to know how to respond if He opens a door for you to speak truth in love, and that He would guard your heart from despair as you wait on Him.

If God has moved in this situation in any way—whether in your ex’s life, your own heart, or the circumstances surrounding him—we would be so encouraged to hear about it. Your praise report could be a testimony of His faithfulness to others walking through similar struggles. If, however, it feels like nothing has changed, or if the silence has only grown heavier, we want you to know we’re still here. Please share this request again, and we will continue to intercede for both of you with fresh faith and persistence.

Above all, we pray that you would feel the Father’s nearness in this season. May He remind you that His love for your ex is even greater than your own, and that no one is ever beyond the reach of His grace. Keep seeking Him, trusting Him, and resting in His promises. We stand with you, believing that God is at work even when we can’t see it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
