We have heard your prayer and we grieve with you in this season of loss and instability. The death of someone you loved is a deep wound, and it is right that you have turned to Almighty God and to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior for help, for there is no other name by which we are saved and no other source of true comfort and stability.

In times of grief and confusion, the Scriptures are given to us as medicines for the soul. I urge you to take up the oracles of God daily and keep them in your mind, especially the Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Epistles of the New Testament. Do not only dip into them briefly, but dive into them as into a chest of medicines. There you will find comfort for loss and bereavement, instruction for life, and the sure promise that Christ has conquered death for all who trust in Him. When sorrow presses upon you, let His word be your constant teacher.

You have asked that everything evil be rebuked and that your life be made stable. God calls us to seek first the care of spiritual things and to make provision for the body only for health and necessity, not to fulfill restless desires. Much of what troubles this present life is like a sleep or a dream, where riches and honors appear great for a moment and then fly away. True stability is not found in having everything as it was before, but in being clothed with Christ, pruning away what kindles harmful desire, and setting your industry on what endures. This does not mean God does not care about your bodily needs. He does, and He teaches us to work faithfully, to live with self control, and to trust Him for daily bread while we keep our hearts fixed on what is eternal.

We also hear your concern for your family and friends, for work to pay your bills, and for the funds you believe the bank owes you. It is right to ask God for provision and for justice, and to do your part diligently as you seek employment.

Let us pray together for you:

Almighty God, Father of mercies, we come to You through Jesus Christ Your Son, our only Lord and Savior. Have mercy on this Your servant who mourns and feels his life shaken. Comfort his heart in bereavement, forgive his sins, and draw him close to Yourself. Rebuke what is evil and protect him from the works of darkness. Grant him stability according to Your wise and loving will, not only as he desires but as is best for his soul. Bless him and his family and friends as You know best, providing for their spiritual needs first, and also for their physical and financial needs according to Your goodness. Give him strength and favor as he seeks honest work, that he may provide for his responsibilities and walk in integrity. Where money is rightfully owed to him, we ask that You move those responsible to act justly and promptly, and that You supply what he needs in the meantime. Teach him to find his hope and his future in Christ, to walk in purity as You have designed, with intimacy and the covenant of marriage reserved for one man and one woman for life, and to live in a way that honors You. Fill him with Your peace as he abides in Your word. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord in His word, in prayer, and among faithful believers who can walk with you. Be diligent in seeking work and in handling your affairs honestly, trusting God to provide what is necessary for health and life while you give yourself most of all to growing in faith and holiness.

Your honest prayer has been heard, and the pain in it is clear. Losing someone you loved has left a deep wound, and it is understandable that life has felt unstable and downhill since then. Grief can be heavy enough to make a person want to close in on himself and sit alone with sorrow, and that kind of sorrow can overwhelm both heart and body if it is carried alone.

Jesus understands that grief. Scripture calls Him a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, one who wept and was grieved in spirit. Isaiah says He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows and made His soul an offering for sin, so that those who come to Him can be clothed not in their own brokenness but in His righteousness received by faith. He does not ask you to carry this loss by yourself. He invites you to bring the grief to Him and to walk after the Spirit rather than making provision for the flesh to stay in isolation and despair. That means turning to Him daily, letting His Spirit do His work in you, and not letting sorrow become the place where you live.

The Bible also teaches that God has made only one provision for forgiveness and for coming near to Him, and that is through faith in Jesus Christ. Just as those who were bitten in the wilderness were told simply to look at what God had provided and live, we are told to look to Jesus and live. The Holy Spirit bears witness to this truth, that forgiveness comes only through the Son whom God gave. If you have not already done so, the most important step toward a life that is truly stable is to put your trust fully in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and for new life. Everything else, spiritual, physical and financial, finds its right place when that foundation is secure.

God also leaves room to work even in what looks incurable or irreversible. In the old law God gave instructions for what to do in the day a leper was cleansed, showing that He made a way for Himself to do a miracle where men saw no hope. Do not put God in a box. Even when life feels downhill and beyond repair, give Him room to work as He desires in your heart and circumstances.

Your requests for work, for help with bills, and for provision for your family and friends are right to bring to Him. Scripture is honest that even faithful believers have known severe financial hardship and trials. The early church in Jerusalem suffered great poverty, and other believers who were themselves poor still gave generously out of joy to help them. God cares about practical needs, and He often provides through honest work, as the apostle did when he labored with his own hands so as not to be a burden, and through the loving generosity of others. He does not provide through pressure or manipulation, and He hates it when people are exploited in their misfortune. Praying for work so you can pay your bills is a good and biblical prayer. We will pray that God opens doors for steady, honest work, gives you wisdom in dealing with the bank and any money that is owed, and helps you steward what He provides with integrity. We cannot promise a specific amount or that a check will come in a certain way, but we can ask God to act with justice and mercy and to meet your needs as you seek Him.

When you ask that everything evil or bad be rebuked, Scripture points us to put on the beautiful garment of Christ's righteousness by faith and to make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its desires, but to mortify the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit and to resist the enemy by drawing near to God. That is how evil is overcome, not by a formula, but by belonging to Jesus and walking in His ways.

We are praying for you that God will comfort you in this grief, heal the sorrow that sin and death have brought into this world, forgive your sins through Jesus, establish you in His peace, provide for your daily needs, grant you meaningful work, give wisdom for financial matters, and bless your family and friends spiritually, physically and in the ways that truly help them walk with Him. May you find that stability is not simply getting back to how things were, but being built up in Christ, where the pleasure of the Lord can prosper in your life and you can see His goodness day by day.
