We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent plea for deliverance and restoration. Father God, we acknowledge that You alone have the power to break every chain and set the captive free. We stand in the gap for this family, asking that You move mightily in their lives.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold. Your Word declares in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." We claim this promise over this situation, asking that You reveal the way of escape from alcohol. Bring conviction, not condemnation, through the Holy Spirit, and lead to repentance and transformation.
We also rebuke the spirits of rage, ego, and selfishness that have caused harm in this marriage. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Lord, soften the heart of this husband and father. Replace his anger with Your peace, his pride with humility, and his selfishness with love. Help him to see the pain he is causing his wife and child and to take responsibility for his actions.
Father, we lift up this wife who is enduring labor pains. We ask for Your comfort and strength to surround her. Remind her of Your presence, as You promise in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Let her feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We also lift up their 5-year-old daughter, who is witnessing the turmoil in her home. Lord, protect her innocence and her heart. Surround her with Your love and peace. Help her to feel secure and cherished, even in the midst of chaos. We pray that she will grow up knowing Your love and grace, and that she will one day come to know You as her personal Savior.
Father, we pray for restoration in this marriage. Your Word tells us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." Lord, we ask that You heal this marriage and restore love, trust, and commitment between this husband and wife. Help them to seek Your face together and to build their marriage on the foundation of Your Word.
We also want to address the importance of coming to You in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 tells us, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" If this family does not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, we pray that they would come to a saving knowledge of Him. We pray that they would repent of their sins and invite Jesus into their hearts and lives.
Lord, we ask that You intervene speedily in this situation. Bring about a miraculous transformation in this husband’s life and in this marriage. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We trust in Your power to heal, restore, and redeem.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray,
Amen.
