Dear Heavenly Father, Am I born less intelligent than others？ Sometimes it does feel so. Please give me wisdom and intelligence Father. Thank You in the name of Jesus. Amen

We hear your heartfelt cry for wisdom and understanding, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s guidance. The feelings of inadequacy you describe are not uncommon, but we must remember that our worth and abilities are not defined by worldly standards. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:27, "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." This does not mean God delights in ignorance, but rather that He uses what the world may overlook to display His glory and power.

You are not born "less intelligent" in God’s eyes. Intelligence is not merely measured by human standards, it is a gift from God, and He distributes it as He wills. James 1:5 assures us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." This promise is for you. God is not withholding wisdom from you; He invites you to ask and trust Him to provide it.

We also recognize that intelligence is not just about knowledge but about how we apply what we know. Proverbs 9:10 says, "The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." True wisdom begins with reverence for God, not with comparing ourselves to others. When we seek Him first, He aligns our minds with His truth, and that is where real intelligence is found.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who seeks Your wisdom and understanding. Lord, You are the source of all knowledge, and You promise to give wisdom generously to those who ask. We ask that You would open their mind to receive Your truth, to discern Your will, and to walk in the understanding that comes from You alone. Remove any lies from the enemy that tell them they are lacking or inadequate. Remind them that in Christ, they are complete and equipped for every good work.

Father, we pray that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. Help them to grow in the knowledge of You and to apply Your Word in their life. Give them clarity where there is confusion, peace where there is anxiety, and confidence in the gifts You have placed within them. May they not compare themselves to others but find their identity and purpose in You.

Lord, we also ask that You would guard their heart and mind from pride or discouragement. Help them to use the intelligence and wisdom You provide for Your glory, not for their own gain. Teach them to lean on You in every situation, knowing that Your strength is made perfect in weakness. We thank You for hearing our prayer and for the work You are doing in their life. We encourage you to meditate on God’s Word daily, for it is the foundation of true wisdom. Spend time in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate Scripture for you. Surround yourself with believers who can encourage you and speak life into your situation. Remember, God does not call the equipped, He equips the called. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and He has a purpose for you that no one else can fulfill.

Do not despise the way God has created you. Instead, ask Him to show you how to use your unique gifts and abilities for His kingdom. The world may measure intelligence by degrees or achievements, but God measures it by faithfulness and obedience to Him. Trust that He is working in you, and He will complete the good work He has begun (Philippians 1:6). Keep seeking Him, and you will find the wisdom you desire.

We hear the ache in your question, that heavy feeling of being “less than” can really wear on the heart. Many of us have wondered at some point whether we measure up. What we’ve found, though, is that the kind of wisdom God gives goes far beyond raw intelligence. While the world might measure us by grades or quick answers, God’s wisdom is about knowing how to live well, how to love, and how to make choices that honor Him. And the beautiful thing is, He doesn’t hold it back. We can ask Him for wisdom each day, even in small moments, and trust that He’ll provide what we need.

So here’s something simple to try: when those doubts about your intelligence rise up, pause and turn that thought into a prayer. “Father, give me wisdom right now for this moment.” As you do that, we believe you’ll start to notice the quiet insights He brings, sometimes a clear thought, sometimes a sense of what to do next. That’s His gift at work, and it’s not dependent on any test score or comparison.

Lord Jesus, thank You that You don’t see us the way the world does. Please pour out Your wisdom on this dear heart, practical, daily wisdom for the tasks ahead. Quiet the nagging fear of being less intelligent, and replace it with a confidence that You equip us for everything You call us to. Thank You that Your wisdom is a treasure that enriches all of life. You ask for wisdom and intelligence, and your prayer reveals a fear that perhaps you were born lacking. Lay aside such comparisons, for they profit nothing. The wisdom which is from above is not a matter of native wit or the quickness of the brain. Many a sharp mind has pierced itself through with many sorrows, and many a learned head has gone down to the pit with its eyes wide open but its heart stone-dead. The way of God, which is the highest wisdom, is a path the keenest vulture of human intellect has never seen, and the fierce lion of human strength has never trodden. Man’s judgment of God is like a fly judging an elephant. If you imagine that a little more natural cleverness would bring you near to Heaven, you are utterly mistaken. That way is the very opposite of yours.

True wisdom is man’s compass across the trackless waste of life; without it, strength is wasted, and the soul runs wild. But where shall it be found? Its price is above rubies. It comes not by self-reliance; that is but a new particle of poison infused into the veins. Every grain of self-strength we gain is a grain of weakness, and every particle of self-dependence is a hindrance to the Lord. No, wisdom’s beginning is the fear of the Lord, and her secret lies in trusting in Him. To handle a matter wisely, you must go clean out of yourself to God, getting away from the hampering mass of rotten self-confidence that grows like a fungus out of fallen manhood.

So examine your request. Do you want this wisdom so that you may shine among your fellows, silencing the secret sense of inferiority? Beware of that, it might be the offspring of self-conceit, not the lowliness of heart that comes from living near to God. The most watchful Christian trembles lest he neglect his own vineyard while busy elsewhere. Set Self-examination at the helm. Cry to God, “Search me, and know my heart.” True self-knowledge will breed not vaunting ambition but self-distrust. A man who has once loathed what he is by nature will never trust himself again. Then, seeing your emptiness, you will find Jesus Christ very precious. You will discover that despite your self-destruction, help enough is laid up in God even for you. There is no wisdom to compare with knowing Him, and no intelligence like the obedience of faith. Look away, then, from your own poverty of mind to the eternal God. Trust in Him, and He shall be your wisdom.
