Disciple of Prayer
Dear God, I am so sorry and so worried. I am sorry that I have had arguments, anger and frustration in my day. That is for another prayer God, as my anguished mind can only cope with so much, as you know. But you hold everything, God. You hold all of time, existence and creation. Please don't give up on our little earth, God. I am worried about reports of a super el nino this summer and of scientists and media telling us it will be hottest global temperatures ever, and ongoing heating our planet. I am scared because of how this effects my health. Scared of the hopelessness and helplessness of it all. Scared of being unwell and unable to work and be with family. Scared also for countries that suffer even more than our own where blazing heat and no rain bring death. Please God. Only you can fix this. Scientists, those who don't believe, are wrong about you. You are in control, not their predictions. Not their AI climate models. Please God, please let the healing of our world continue this year. Please move your spirit through the wind, sun, rain, weather and into hearts and minds of leaders and scientists. Please God move us all to pray for your creation and yearn to do your work unceasingly. I pray God for a cooler world ahead in which we can all live, work and breath together for your Glory. Amen.

We hear your heart’s cry, dear one, and we join you in lifting this burden before the throne of grace. Your concern for God’s creation is deeply felt, and we stand with you in prayer, knowing that our Heavenly Father holds all things—time, weather, nations, and even the very breath in our lungs—in His sovereign hands.

First, we must address the foundation of our faith. You call upon God, and we affirm that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, *"Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit"* (John 3:5-6). It is by His blood alone that we are reconciled to God, and it is in His name that we pray. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Now, regarding your fears about the state of the world—we understand the weight of these concerns. The reports of extreme weather, rising temperatures, and the suffering of nations can indeed stir anxiety. But we must remember that God is not a God of chaos, but of order (1 Corinthians 14:33). He set the boundaries of the seas, the cycles of the seasons, and the balance of creation (Job 38:8-11). While man’s actions have consequences, and sin has marred the perfection of God’s design, we must not despair. The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it (Psalm 24:1).

We rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to grip your heart, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). The predictions of men—no matter how advanced their models or how dire their warnings—are not the final word. Our God is the One who calms the storms with a word (Mark 4:39), who sends rain on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45), and who promises that while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease (Genesis 8:22).

We must also address the role of believers in stewarding God’s creation. While we trust in His sovereignty, we are called to be wise and faithful stewards of the earth (Genesis 2:15). This means caring for the environment responsibly, not out of fear of man’s predictions, but out of reverence for the Creator. However, we must be cautious not to elevate environmental concerns above the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). Our primary mission is to make disciples, not to save the planet—God alone holds that power. Yet, as we walk in obedience to Him, we will naturally reflect His care for all He has made.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy for the state of Your creation. We acknowledge that You are the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and that nothing is too hard for You. Lord, we ask that You would calm the fears in our hearts and replace them with trust in Your perfect sovereignty. You hold the winds, the waves, and the very foundations of the earth in Your hands. We pray for Your mercy upon the nations suffering from extreme heat, drought, and hardship. Send Your rain, Lord, where it is needed, and grant wisdom to leaders and scientists to act with discernment and integrity.

Father, we repent for the times we have allowed fear to overshadow our faith. Forgive us for looking to man’s predictions rather than to Your promises. We ask that You would move mightily in the hearts of Your people, stirring us to pray without ceasing for Your creation and to walk in obedience to Your will. May we be instruments of Your peace, reflecting Your love and care for the world You have made.

Lord, we pray for a season of refreshment—a time of cooler temperatures, abundant harvests, and restored balance in the natural world. But more than that, we pray for a spiritual awakening. Move in the hearts of those who do not know You, that they may turn to Christ and find true hope. Let Your Spirit blow like a mighty wind, bringing revival to Your people and glory to Your name.

We trust in You, Father, for You are faithful. You have promised that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Your glory as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). Until that day, help us to walk in faith, not fear, and to proclaim Your goodness to all creation. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Finally, dear one, we encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Do not be consumed by the reports of the world, but be consumed by the truth of God’s Word. Spend time in Scripture, meditating on His promises, and let His peace guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-7). You are not helpless—you are a child of the King, and He has given you the power to overcome fear through faith. Stand firm, and let your life be a testament to His goodness and grace.

We're right there with you, dear friend. The weight of the world's struggles can feel overwhelming, can't it? We see your concern, your worry, and we want you to know that we're lifting this burden up to God with you. We trust in His care, His sovereignty over all things, including the changing seasons and the health of our planet.

We've been thinking about the role of faith in all this. You've mentioned scientists and their predictions, and while we respect their knowledge and efforts, we must remember that God is the ultimate authority. He's the one who set the boundaries of the seas, the cycles of the seasons, and the balance of creation. He's the one who holds all things in His hands, including the very breath in our lungs.

We're not dismissing the seriousness of climate change or the suffering it causes, but we're reminded of God's promise in Genesis 8:22, "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease." God is in control, and He's not a God of chaos, but of order.

So, let's pray together, shall we? "Lord, we come before You with heavy hearts for Your creation. We acknowledge that You are the Creator and Sustainer of all things, and nothing is too hard for You. Lord, we ask that You would calm the fears in our hearts and replace them with trust in Your perfect sovereignty. You hold the winds, the waves, and the very foundations of the earth in Your hands. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

I just want to clarify. In the second sentence should read “Please DON’T give up.” For some reason, your automated system replaced the word “Don’t” with number signs. So the intended message was to encourage people NOT to give up. Thank you in Jesus name.
