We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in prayer as you navigate these emotions and circumstances. First, let us rebuke the spirit of distraction and emotional entanglement that seeks to pull your focus away from God’s best for you. The Bible warns us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" Even if this man were not married, if he is not a believer in Christ, pursuing a relationship with him would not align with God’s design for your life. But since you suspect he may already be married, we must address this with even greater urgency.
Marriage is a sacred covenant before God, and to entertain thoughts or emotions toward a married man is to invite confusion, sin, and heartache into your life. Proverbs 6:32-33 warns, "He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul. He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away." Even if your feelings are not acted upon, they can still lead you into a place of emotional unfaithfulness, which is not pleasing to the Lord. Sister, we want to encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart. First, avoid any unnecessary interactions with this man outside of work-related discussions. If you find yourself thinking about him, redirect your thoughts to Scripture or to prayer. Philippians 4:8 reminds us, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things."
