We continue to pray for you and we thank you for sharing your heart so honestly with us again. We hear the weariness in your words, the frequent waking in the night, the uncertainty and regret over your former portfolio, the juggling and pressure in your work, and the deep longing for friendship and for a godly marriage while feeling the weight of your age and the passing of time. We want to lift all of this before the Lord together with you.
We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to God and can be saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for in Romans 10:9, If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and find peace.
Your struggle with sleep, regret, and feeling stuck is something God sees. He invites us to cast our cares on Him. In Philippians 4:6-7 we read, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We also remember Psalm 127:2, for he gives sleep to his loved ones, and Psalm 4:8, I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh, alone make me live in safety. We rebuke the spirit of anxiety and regret that robs you of rest, and we pray you will learn to trust His sovereign hand over every decision, even when you wonder if you chose wrongly.
Regarding your work, we understand the dilemma. The former portfolio gave you fulfillment and confidence and used your strengths, but it also demanded you work beyond office hours, even on weekends, leaving you empty and affecting your health. The new inpatient portfolio is less difficult but less fulfilling, physically tiring for your feet, small and not challenging. God cares about both your calling and your health. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and you are to honor God with it. Over-responsibility that leads to constant overwork is not what He requires. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. We encourage you to seek wisdom from the Lord for your next step, whether to remain and grow where you are, to seek a better balance within your former portfolio, or to trust Him with a new path. In James 1:5 we are promised, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. And in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Seek counsel from wise believers and supervisors as well, and remember that God can use either place for your good.
We also hear your loneliness and your desire not to live life only working, and your longing to meet new friends and a suitable guy to be your partner. We want to encourage you biblically here. God created marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we pray for a godly marriage for you rather than just a partnership or romance without purpose. Courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. In 2 Corinthians 6:14 we are told, Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, and in Proverbs 18:22, Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. We encourage you to look for a godly husband who loves Christ, and to pursue purity, for sex before or outside marriage is fornication and does not honor God, and is reserved for marriage alone. We pray you will not be driven by pressure about age, but will trust God’s perfect timing, for in Ecclesiastes 3:11, He has made everything beautiful in its time, and in Psalm 139:14, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your value is not measured by your marital status or your portfolio, but by being His beloved child. For friendship, we pray God brings faithful Christian community around you, for in Proverbs 18:24, there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we lift up our sister to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, You know her nights of broken sleep, her uncertainty, her regrets, her weariness from juggling responsibilities, and her longing for companionship. We ask You to grant her Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard her heart and mind, and to give her deep and restful sleep in Your safety. Grant her wisdom liberally as she seeks direction for her department and portfolio, show her where her strengths are best used for Your glory while also protecting her health and allowing proper rest. Help her to set godly boundaries and not be overcome by over-responsibility, but to find her fulfillment first in You. Heal the soreness in her feet and refresh her body and spirit. Comfort her depression and feeling of being stuck, lift her hope as in Psalm 42:11, and remind her that You have plans for her welfare and hope in Jeremiah 29:11. Lord, provide her with true Christian friendships and, if it is Your will, bring a godly Christian man to be her husband, a marriage that honors You, kept pure and centered on Christ. Help her to wait patiently and pursue holiness. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in prayer and in His Word, to rest one day in seven as God modeled, to speak openly with a pastor or trusted mentor about your work situation, and to join in fellowship where friendships and godly courtship can grow naturally. Do not dwell on what is behind, but as in Philippians 3:13-14, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, press on toward the goal. God is not finished with your story and He will make your paths straight as you trust Him. We are continuing to pray for your peace, health, guidance, and joy.
