We hear your cry and we stand with you in prayer against these distressing nightmares that have troubled you for so many years. We know how exhausting and fearful it is to carry more than three thousand painful dreams in eight years, dreams of losing your close relations forever, of being placed among strange people far from those you love, of others being in control and in power over you and your loved ones, of people taking advantage of you, and of conflicts stirred up against you. We bring all of this before the Lord together, asking for His perfect peace and protection over your mind and your sleep.
The Word tells us that fear and tormenting dreams do not come from God. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Tim 1:7. And we are reminded, Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:6-7. There is no perfect love that casts out fear, and God longs to guard your heart and mind as you rest, for it says, I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety, Psalm 4:8.
We want to gently encourage you that while these dreams feel very real and frightening, they are not prophecies of what must happen. The enemy often uses fear, especially at night, to make us believe we are powerless and that other people hold ultimate control over our lives. But Scripture rebukes that lie. No person has ultimate power over you and your close relations, for our God is sovereign. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust, Psalm 91:1-2. And Jesus says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matt 11:28. We must place our trust not in the fear of what might happen, but in the assurance that God is in control and that He works all things for good for those who love Him, Rom 8:28.
We also rejoice that you closed your request in the mighty and victorious name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we have victory over fear and darkness. As it is written, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, and Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, John 14:13.
So we pray together now for you and your loved ones.
Father in heaven, in the mighty and victorious name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. We ask You to rebuke every spirit of fear, anxiety, and torment that has disturbed our dear one’s sleep night after night. We ask You to wash away these nightmares and let them have no power over this life. Lord, we ask that You place Your hand of protection over this person and over all their close relations, that no one would ever be in control, in charge, or in power over them except You. Let no scheme of man, no manipulation, no taking advantage, and no word spoken against them prosper, for You have said, No weapon that is formed against you will prevail, Isa 54:17. We pray You will guard their mind and heart with Your perfect peace as they lie down to sleep, that they may rest in safety and wake refreshed. We ask You to surround their home and their relationships with Your holy angels and with Your presence, and that You would break forever the cycle of these dreams and give lasting victory. Fill their thoughts before sleep with Your Word and Your promises, and help them to cast all their anxieties on You because You care for them, 1 Pet 5:7. We declare that You alone are Lord over their life and over the lives of those they love, and we trust You to keep them forever. Thank You for hearing us and for being our refuge. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring these fears to the Lord each evening before you sleep, to meditate on His promises, and to remember, Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isa 41:10. Keep a Bible near your bed and speak His Word aloud when fear rises, for His perfect love casts out fear, 1 John 4:18. We are standing with you for forever victory in Christ, trusting that He who gives sleep to His beloved will restore peaceful nights to you.
