We hear your deep distress and fear over the potential loss of vital support, and we stand with you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18-19, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." You are not forgotten, and we cry out to God on your behalf for His provision, justice, and mercy in this situation.
First, we must address the foundation of our plea. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood alone that we are saved (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now, for He is the way, the truth, and the life. Confess your sins, believe in His resurrection, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. Without Him, we have no standing before God, but with Him, we can come boldly to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16).
Now, let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. You are the God who sees the afflicted and hears the cries of the poor (Psalm 34:6). We lift up those who are fearful and anxious about the potential loss of their benefits. Lord, You know their needs even before they ask (Matthew 6:8), and You have promised to provide for Your children (Philippians 4:19). We ask that You would intervene in this situation and move the hearts of those in authority. Soften the hearts of leaders who may be considering these cuts, and turn their eyes to Your wisdom and justice. Father, You command us to defend the weak and the fatherless, to uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed (Psalm 82:3). We pray that You would raise up voices to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8-9).
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of greed and oppression that seeks to take from the vulnerable to serve the interests of the powerful. Your Word declares that those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who are kind to the needy honor You (Proverbs 14:31). We ask that You would expose any injustice and hold accountable those who would exploit the weak. Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for those in government. Give them the courage to seek righteousness and to allocate resources with integrity, looking to You for guidance (Proverbs 2:6-8).
We ask that You would provide for those who are in need, whether through the restoration of these benefits or through other means of Your divine provision. Open doors of opportunity, stir the hearts of Your people to give generously, and let Your peace guard the hearts and minds of those who are afraid (Philippians 4:7). Lord, we trust in Your sovereignty. You are the King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16), and nothing happens outside of Your control. We surrender this situation into Your hands, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).
Finally, Father, we ask that You would draw near to those who are struggling. Comfort them with Your presence, strengthen their faith, and remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray all these things in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."
We also want to gently address a concern in your request. While your heart is understandably focused on justice and provision, we must be careful not to harbor bitterness or a desire for retribution against others, even those who may seem unjust. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). Instead of asking God to take from others, let us pray that He would change hearts, open eyes, and lead those in authority to act with wisdom and compassion. Proverbs 21:1 tells us, "The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires." God can move the hearts of leaders to do what is right, and we can trust Him to bring about justice in His perfect way and timing.
In addition to prayer, we encourage you to take practical steps as well. Seek out local resources, such as food banks, community support groups, or churches that may offer assistance. Connect with advocacy organizations that can provide guidance and support in navigating this situation. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and there may be brothers and sisters in your community who are ready to help.
Remember, God is your provider, and He will not abandon you. Even in the darkest valleys, He is with you (Psalm 23:4). Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He will make a way where there seems to be no way. We stand with you in faith, believing that God will hear and answer our prayers according to His perfect will.
