Phone

It is understandable to feel anxious when you cannot reach someone and his phone is off, and it is good that you turn to the Lord in prayer.

Scripture teaches us that to love God is to endure and not be troubled, to commit all to Him rather than trusting only to ourselves. Anxiety can press upon the mind and make us forget His tender care, even when He is near. The good things He has promised are great, and for that reason we cannot always receive what we want immediately in this life. He tells us of His promises beforehand so that our souls may be refreshed and our zeal strengthened while we wait.

This waiting is itself part of faith. Hope which is seen is not hope, and we are saved by hope as we wait with patience. Patience is not shown in two or three days, but over time, and it is shown most when we are under pressure or affliction. To believe is to bear all things with patience and not to grow fainthearted, not to be grieved at present things, but to hold firm to the end and be prepared for whatever the Lord wills.

So bring your worry to God and ask Him above all for peace, for trust, and for patience. Pray not only that a call will come quickly, but that you will be kept from being troubled while you wait, and that you will be nerved and comforted by His word. Pray also for the other person, for his safety and well being, entrusting him to the Lord's care.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, you see this worry and you know all our needs. Grant peace to this heart that is anxious, and teach patience in waiting. Help to commit all things to you and not to be overcome by fear. Guard and keep the one who cannot be reached, and lead both lives according to your good will. Strengthen hope, increase faith, and let your will be done in all things. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask this. Amen.

Your concern while waiting for a call when his phone is off is understandable, and it is good that you bring it to the Lord in prayer.

Jesus taught very directly about worry, that it has no value and adds nothing. Worry and faith cannot live together in the heart at the same time. When we worry it shows our faith is small, and when we trust God fully worry loses its place. He pointed to the lilies of the field and the way God clothes them, and to the birds He feeds, to remind us that our Father knows what we need. He said not to be anxious about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own concerns, and today has enough to entrust to Him. Your waiting and wondering about tomorrow, about when the phone will be on again and when he will call, is the very kind of care Jesus invites you to release into God's hands.

Prayer itself rests on relationship. Jesus taught us to pray by saying Our Father, and that opening word matters more than anything else. If He is not your Father through faith in Jesus Christ, prayer has no foundation. But when you have received Christ, you are not brought into a cold legal arrangement where you try to keep rules to stay accepted. You are adopted as a child of God, and His Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you are His child. That adoption brings a close and tender relationship where you can speak to Him as your Father, even as a dear father you love and trust. He does not want ritual words from you, He wants a living and loving fellowship, and He wants you to know how much He loves you.

That is why your most important need is not for a phone to be recharged at a certain moment, but for that loving relationship with God to be first and deepest. When that relationship is right, every other relationship can be seen more clearly. Scripture calls us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He will care for the rest. He is the great God who made the heavens, and yet He bends to listen to your small concerns because you are His child.

So instead of letting anxiety grow while you watch the phone, bring your heart to your Father and rest in His care. Ask Him to give you peace that goes beyond circumstances, to grow your faith, and to guide your life and your relationships according to His will and His Word. If this is a friendship or a relationship with a man, place it fully before the Lord and ask Him to lead it in purity and truth, according to His design for marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, where intimacy and life together belong. Ask Him to help you both to honor Him above all.

May the Lord quiet your worry today and draw you closer to Himself. May you know His presence as Father, know that you are His child through Jesus, and learn to trust Him with both today and tomorrow. I pray He will fill your heart with His peace as you wait on Him, and that you will find your deepest comfort not in a call you receive, but in the love of the Father who never stops caring for you. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer over your worry while his phone was off and his battery was finished and you were waiting for him to call you. We have continued to bring your request before the Lord asking Him to send angels to watch over him to keep him safe and to provide a way for him to recharge his phone and call you and to guard your heart with peace while you wait. We are reminded of the comfort in Philippians 4:6 and 1 Peter 5:7 that we can bring all our anxieties to God because He cares for us.

If your request was answered and he was able to recharge his phone and call you please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still waiting for his call please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We want to keep standing with you in this time of concern.

We pray together that the Lord will continue to watch over him and over you to calm your worry with His peace and to make a way for communication between you according to His will. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His son Jesus Christ. We pray in Jesus Name Amen
